Model Maki Nishiyama, 27, is 5 months pregnant, tabloid media reported Wednesday. The father of the baby is said to be actor Taichi Saotome, 21.

According to Sankei Shimbun, the couple -- who are not married -- had a rocky relationship at the beginning of the year, but everything seems OK now.

A spokesperson for Nishiyama's agency said the couple are planning a June wedding.

The term model is being thrown around to easily nowadays. Anyway kanpai on another shotgun wedding.

Ooops! Sorry, Congratulations!!!

Congratulations to her!! 27 is, in my opinion, an awesome time to become a first time mommy!!

However as for the 21 year old daddy... ouchies. Lets hope he doesn't find the adjustment to married life and parenthood too difficult and get busted for fighting in a seedy hostess club in a couple of years from now.

Taichi's going to be a dad. Good for him. But check out some of his web photos. He looks too young to be in this situation.

a 25 yr old model knocked-up by a 21 yr old actor--sounds like the prime ingredients of a stable family...NOT. Don't these entertainers even contemplate let's-not-make-an-oops-baby sex? even for a nanosecond? I guess not.

disappointing. they better not divorce -___-

Yeah, there were some hard times back in the old days earlier this year but now that it's already mid-April, there has been abundant time for those old wounds to heal and I'm sure this model and her 21-year-old beau (congrats on your first year without "minor" status, btw!) have all the tools and building blocks to continue on into a wonder future.

another random person nobody knows. THank you JT.

She is very well known to anyone who lives in Japan.

They'll be done by year end.If I were his dad I'd whup his @ss for not wearing a hat.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

all these actors getting knocked up, you think theyd have the brains to know what birth control is. really good role models for they younger generation who look up to these clowns, another day under the "talento big top" LOL

PaulinUsa, I did exactly that, and you ain't kidding. Good lord...

I love Maki Nishiyama, but I still do not understand why she would not use birth control. My girlfriend, being the cynical person that she is believes that the women in most instances are looking to get pregnant, especially if they are over thirty, so they encourage the "contraceptive free" sex.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

We need a JT pool on how long this is going to last.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Hmm looks like Taichi is only 20, as his birthday hasn't come by this year yet...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

beowulf - your girlfriend is very cynical indeed...

One just has to look around a bit online, and you can find lots of other stories. Japanese men are notorious for absolutely refusing to wear condoms, (preferring the pull out method) and birth control pills are not readily available for women.

They are actively discouraged by doctors, and abortion is a far more common form of "contraception" here.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

kimuzukashiiiii - You may well be correct. As for Japanese men being notorious for having sex without a condom....well most of them cave-in pretty quick when the woman tells them, "No condom, no sex". Obviously I am not blaming anybody here, because it ultimately comes down to both people.

It still astounds me how many celebrities get pregnant. Do not their agencies tell them to be "safe"? Probably not because their agencies more than likely see it as another form of publicity; now that it is me being cynical.

Rekon is less then 2yrs I bet haha shotgun! BOOM BOOM!!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I've just googled the hubby to be, and he doesn't look a day over 14....... sure it's his ?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Japanese seem to take a greater responsibility after they have gotten themselves in a situation. But in general they seem less educated about sex. It takes two people to make a baby, so they are both doing something wrong if it wasn't planned.

Do not their agencies tell them to be "safe"?

Should they really be talking about sex to them? This should be done in school.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

He looks too young to be in this situation.

You can't tell that if you've not seen his bank accounts. If he has personal fortune, he is ripe... to become a future ex-hubby paying child alimony. That's what the situation requires.

Theres a sound track to this story, its "Rich in Paradise' by FPI Project

Headline news.

2 healthy twenty-somethings make a baby.

In other headline news, it will be a nice day, if it doesn't rain...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

@TokyoGas, I'm guessing 6 months after the delivery. I might be too optimistic. 21 yr. old kid in the entertainment business, no doubt Maki will be raising that kid by herself.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I am glad the young dude is stepping up to the plate. Should be a good looking kid.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Please nobody tell my girlfriend. Everytime she hears about somebody having a baby it puts a lot of pressure on me.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Another "celeb" shotgun wedding. Weehaw! Let's see... it'll end in divorce in a few years or a lovely married where he cheats on her and she plays victim. What a fantastic role model for the child they're bringing into the world.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I can't believe how many people here are being nasty and predicting the marriage won't last or assuming that they are not in love.

So I'll say what should be said: Congratulations to the happy couple. I wish you lots of happiness.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

assuming that they are not in love.

There is a pattern in Japanese showbiz. When celebs of B-rate, C-rate .(these 2 are W-rate ?) live real love stories, they stay in the hide. Then they make it public from the day they are no longer together but in some tatemae relationship.

Brainiac, you took the word of my finger-typing!

I read this news in another website, Why people don't have faith that this could work?, Granted, there are many "shotgun" weddings, but tis couple has been living together for almost two years now, it's not surprising that she got pregnant before thinking seriously about a wedding.

I wish them both happiness and a healthy baby

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Why people don't have faith that this could work?,

Because a) it's a shotgun wedding b) He's 21 c) Shotgun weddings don't have a great happiness/staying together rate d) It's been commented on that they've previously had problems - which would have been around the time the bean was conceived. e) "Star" (and I use this is the loosest terms ever) marriages don't have a great success rate f) put all of them together and well, we're not dumb

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The three -- woman, man and the unborn child -- confront trying to build a life of happiness in a world where so many exist to foster and foment contempt and cynicism. I wish them the very best in the face of those challenges.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not my business, but as they pop up in headline news, I browsed. That's sad.

read this news in another website, Why people don't have faith that this could work?

Faith ? If I was religious, I'd pray for the baby. You've read so you saw the photos ? He has beaten her in public several times and once in front of journalists, so imagine how many times besides... She found her pregnancy after their separation. It seems their agencies marry them. It's a double shot-gun.

Good Luck to the both of them. I think he was not ready as quoted in an article he said I wouldn't make the same mistake again. Does this meaning 1. Knocking her up. 2. Slapping her during a fight, or making a big mistake in his young life early. The link is below.

Cos, thanks for the info. Had no idea. WHY is she marrying him? Japan really needs to update itself on single mothers and how often, they are the better thing rather than an abusive husband/father in the picture.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I wonder if she attended the boys' Coming-of-age ceremony? Good luck to them and the bundle of joy.

Joke relationship.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Another celebrity shotgun marriage that is unlikely to last more than a year. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I didn't realize that he was abusive. It has now gone from joke relationship to sick relationship.
