Soon there won't be anyone left who can act in Hollywood!

I'd heard gossip that Morgan was a bit handy but this really is a shame and sadly, not that surprising, anymore. This is what those in a position of power tend to do. To women. You rarely hear of women doing it to men.

Soon there won't be anyone left who can act in Hollywood!

The implicit assumption here being that the only people who can act in Hollywood are men who can't keep their hands to themselves. Women and guys with a basic sense of decency and self-control apparently don't count as people.

continually tried to lift her skirt and kept asking if she was wearing underwear.

I can't imagine this on Morgan Freeman Voice Overs. lol

I hope Brad Pitt won't be accused soon or else the whole leading cast of of SEVEN will be all accused of sexual harassment. Almost B-I-N-G-O...

In instances like these, people will come out and say, "well, why didn't someone speak out sooner?"

But when all you've got is rumour and whispers, what can you do epecially when up against the might of Hollywood and or Washington?

Hopefully things will change.

Women and guys with a basic sense of decency and self-control...

It's easy to exhibit decency and self-control when you are an ordinary person. You really get to see a person's true colors when they are immersed in fame, wealth and power. A lot of people fail that test, especially when they are put in unassailable positions like Morgan Freeman's.

This sort of behavior will never stop unless there are real consequences for the perpetrators. For example, an actor could be held personally responsible for losses to the producers if he engages in behavior that requires firing him.

If it was only that last group of accusations, we all know goofballs like that. Well, the twirling part left me a bit baffled... Makes me think of a Tom Waits line on Real Gone..."Like a preacher waving a gun around.."

If you listened to the Woman saying what he'd done, you'd be find it a bit hard to see how anyone could have twisted it to being sexual harassment. But then you later learn that she's a CNN reporter and suddenly everything becomes clear. CNN really is a trash channel.

But, but Morgan Freeman is god!

Biology for the win. We are all biologically animals, but some of us are in much more control than others. I think a lot of it is environmental, and the environment you grow up in can very much mold you in ways that don't make you popular in society as a whole.

This is getting depressing. All my favorites are turning out to be jerks.

Maybe that's the plan women accuse all the good male actors of indecency they get forced out.

I've said it before when they show the proof I'll believe them

Really? I'm not sure about that. Given the proportion of women to men in 'superior' positions, it's perhaps not surprising that cases are fewer. But where women do have empowering jobs, I'm pretty sure it happens at much the same rate.

The woman said Freeman, who turns 80 next week, continually tried to lift her skirt and kept asking if she was wearing underwear.

What's not clear is how the woman reacted when it happened. Did she tell him to stop as Alan Arkin did, or did she 'go along', perhaps out of fear or a sense of helplessness? When dealing with the powerful, whether male or female, people need to stand up to behavior they're not comfortable with. Complaining about it years later is not how to effect change.

He won't be last one.

Complaining about it years later is not how to effect change.

Many people repress these incidents of trauma in the backs of their heads but over time the traumatic memories surface up and it goes off like a landmine - years after the war ended. THEN the trauma survivor needs to talk to a skilled professional for help - NOW. Fear and a sense of building a career are factors that suppress those tragic moments, but you can't suppress them forever.

But where women do have empowering jobs, I'm pretty sure it happens at much the same rate.

In the US there was a movie in the cinemas starring Jennifer Anniston as a dental assistant who took advantage of a male patient's anathesiated state to rape him. The film glorified that too.

See my above statement. It can happen and does. Technically and legally if a woman makes a man copulate her at gunpoint then she is raping him because he's not consenting to it. Actions like this were committed at the Abu Gharib prison against Iraqi prisoners and it occurred grossly en masse during the Yugoslavia Wars of 1991 - ~ 2006.

Actors and actresses have been elevated by the media to god like status for nearly 100 years now, and we buy into it.

what they do isnt even high art and theyre terribly overpaid.

Watching freeman, spacey, ben affleck etcet etc is never gonna be the same.
