I give you two recent factual examples of institutional racism, and when I ask for real examples of "Blacks playing the race card" you give me some anecdotal story about what you think happened in LA.
Where is your proof or evidence? You don't really have much here.
Regarding your second comment, I don't think you know what "American Exceptionalism" means or didn't read carefully.
I said this:
because then you said this:
LOL! I know the Dems have been the reason for all these most recent important changes because that is what makes "America Exceptionalism" like I said earlier. It also why the country is doing a lot better than when the last Republican President was in office.
The Republicans like I also said are trying to highjack this idea and twist the meaning to obstruct CHANGE by refusing to do anything. You are also agreeing the Republicans have done nothing. Thank you.
That is the very antithesis of "American Exceptionalism". If you truly understood the meaning then you would have known that.
It seems the Dems are the real Americans!

Sorry, NOT buying it! I do and although there are pockets of racism here and there, for the most part, we are over it, the country proved it by electing its first Black President that wouldn't have happened without the White vote. I was born and raised in an area of L.A. that was very diverse, so I know very, very well about the plight of racism from a long time ago when it was really hard and to today where Blacks have virtually every opportunity to do and be anything they want.
You were doing so good and were on a roll and then....
The right for the last 6 years hasn't been in power and were for the most part the 3 of those 6 years marginalized and pretty much powerless to really do anything, ALL the change that has happened throughout the country was done by the Dems and Libs. So if you have a bone to pick with anyone changing anything, check with your president.

Only 2 races in the world? Must make the shades in between feel al ittle bit discriminated against.......

correct me if I am wrong, but didn't MTV refuse to play Michael Jackson and other black artists when it first commenced back in the 80's??

Here is some US history for you:
In 1935, the U.S. Congress passed the Social Security Act, guaranteeing an income for millions of workers after retirement. However, the Act specifically excluded domestic and agricultural workers, many of whom were Mexican-American, African-American, and Asian-American. These workers were therefore not guaranteed an income after retirement, and had less opportunity to save, accumulate, and pass wealth on to future generations.
The U.S. property appraisal system created in the 1930s tied property value and eligibility for government loans to race. Thus, all-White neighborhoods received the government's highest property value ratings, and White people were eligible for government loans. Between 1934 and 1962, less than 2% of government-subsidized housing went to non-White people.
These are only two examples. There are tons of institionalized racism in the US out there. You only need to take you head out of the sand to see them. They are still impacting communities to this day.
When Alexis de Tocqueville originally put forward the idea of American Exceptionalism, he offered it as an idea that was full of both positives and negatives. de Tocqueville viewed Americans as explorers only, the kind of people who would tame the new world, without a devotion to science or the arts.
But the standing testament of what made America exceptional was the fact that we as a country grew, changed and set ourselves apart from the rest of the world. What made America so unique was that unlike nations of Monarchs or corrupt shell governments, America was a country that could admit failure or mistakes without a complete overthrow of the government.
Which is why the current move amongst the right to use American Exceptionalism to prevent change is such an open betrayal of what it is that makes America special.
What is most troubling about the current Republican movement isn't so much that they want change that is different then others, it is that they are rejecting the very concept of change at all; and demand past changes be reversed. This rise of demand for a return to a 18th century government is a complete rejection of what our founders and those behind us fought and believed for. It is as though we reject the thing that has always made America special.
Really. For example?

Racism and prejudice in America is no longer based on skin color but of tribal association, be it signaled by hijab, drawl, or gangsta bling.

Discrimination still exists, and "White Privilege" is a real thing, however, no one wants to own up to it.
But at the same time many Blacks are taking advantage of overplaying the race card ant that's equally as bad.
I think your observation of the issue is flat out wrong and I think you have a false understanding of what American exceptionalism is.
I tend to agree.
Really, for example?

@Japangal
The problem isn't as simple as staying in school. Yes, being educated does make someone more employable, more aware, and more hopeful. It still doesn't stop them from being discriminated against in terms of their personal and professional lives. Your statement seem to imply it mostly their fault for being discriminated against. If you look at the history of the country then you can see it is more about the majority's personal issues.
Discrimination still exists, and "White Privilege" is a real thing, however, no one wants to own up to it. Especially, in a country where conservatives are trying to sell this BS idea of "American Exceptionalism" which means I am always right because I strongly believe it is true. You can see here sometimes when we debate with certain posters.
I do agree that their are other issues in the community, but they haven't damage them as much as the systemic racism that exists.
Ah_so
Didn't know MTV was still going.

I cannot see this doing any good. What would help is to get volunteers into the ghettos and work with kids in schools to keep them in schools.
Kaerimashita
guess the sentiment is ok but like so many of these media led things, the method is pretty lame.

Some people believe they are helping, while really being part of the problem. Some people still haven't noticed that it's always those with everything against those with nothing, even if you paint the problem in different colors. Some people also make something out of other peoples nothing.
