Multiple-genre dance extravaganza to be held in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka

Award-winning dancers from around the world will be performing live on stage in a show which you have never seen before. The world's top male dancers from ballet, jazz, contemporary and street dance will be gathering together in an enormous, one of a kind entertainment show.

GQ2015 GABBY is a new type of dance show, featuring multiple dance genres. Different dancers will be collaborating on stage in a performance not ever seen before, say organizers.

GQ was a great hit when it was first created four years ago. Six shows in Tokyo, two shows in Osaka and tickets were sold out.

The dates and venues are June 10-14 at Ex Theater Roppongi in Tokyo; June 19-20 at Canalcity Theater in Fukuoka; and July 4-5 at Morinomiya Pilotti Hall in Osaka.

I'm sure I've seen this before.

Are you talkin' to me?? I look around and I don't see anyone else - so you must be talkin' to me. How do you know I have never seen it before? Lots of people were at the rehearsals.

That second person "you have never..." meme is so jarring that it's hard to focus on what follows.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way.

Really! Some people take things a bit too personal. Loosen up and allow the show's marketing do their job - generate interest and a paying audience. What is stated is a manner of speaking and no harm, or disrespect was intended, at least none that I could find. In reality, if it is a "live" show, it will actually be "new" each time...no matter how many times it has been rehearsed and performed, each show will differ slightly from the others.

As my Mom use to say, "if you have nothing good to say, don't say anything".

"...if it is a "live" show, it will actually be "new" each time..."

right, so their point is meaningless. Hey, I find the meaninglessness entertaining. That's "good," isn't it?

Following all the "trans" news lately I read the headline as "Multiple-gender dance extravaganza" and thought "how amazing, wish I was still in Osaka".

Now I realise my mistake, however amazing the show can be, it will never meet my expectations now!

It's the influence of click bait. Saying something directly to the reader in the this context is jarring, making assumptions is worse. It's not a natural trend in English, but one that was started by marketing people as a way to create click-bait (those outlandish headlines that click through an often dull article). Marketers long ago figured out that the word "you" gets the attention of the reader, and is a great way to sell stuff. Click bait articles have the same principle. They get you to the article. Hopefully, you won't bother reading, but will click on an ad, which they get paid for. The advertiser, of course, hopes you buy stuff. That's why the "you" is used so frequently these days.

And that's why it sounds like a pushy used car salesman, which makes it jarring in a news article. But then, I'm old fashioned in that I like a clear line between pushy adverts and informational articles.

Lets just call it what it appears to be, various forms of street dancing with hints of ballet etc...........while looks ok it seems...................well like others said done before, nothing new.

Its clearly just an extension of J-pop where at least they aren't trying to sing, just dance, invented by the usual back stage "producers" of Jpop.............
