GILLE is a mysterious female singer who does covers of AKB48, Shinji Harada and other artists. She sings a version of one of AKB48′s most popular songs, “Flying Get,” and Shinji Harada’s “Time Travel” in English, with her original arrangement.

Responses to the video of GILLE singing “Flying Get” include “GILLE’s ‘Flying Get’ is much better than the original version.” “It is way different from the original version. It is awesome that a song changes a lot depending on who sings it.” “It’s super cool!! I got goosebumps. I would like GILLE to sing other songs too!!”

Responses to the video of GILLE singing "Time Travel" include: “Awesome!! I would like to say one thing. Who are you? Seriously tell us.” “I am already in love with your (GILLE’s) music! With a voice like that, you (GILLE) will definitely be a big star!” (in English) “Amazing singer.Where can I buy a CD?” (in English), and so on.

GILLE covers other songs such as “Grenade,” sung by Bruno Mars, “Party Rock Anthem,” sung by LMFAO, and so on.

Shouldn't that be "Get Flying"?

With a "standard" face, won't get too far.

I hope this singer is Japanese. Japanese music scene needs at least one singer who can be taken seriously.

Just listened to a few of her songs and I like AKB48 but her version of Flying Get is much better by a mile.

Probably a Japanese because her silhouette looks like a Japanese and she sings "Flying Getto" instead of Flying Get (at least so sounds to my ear). She rewrote the lyrics as a girl's song. But the original was written from the standpoint of a boy. AKB singing "Boku wa" is part of the appeal of the song for the listeners. (Many of their songs are boys" songs.) How does GILLE render the subtlety?

Methinks this is a marketing ploy...

and shame on Japan Today for trying to pass this off as entertainment news. 90% of the article is just quotes from comments on her YouTube channel. Nevertheless I hope her intentions are true and I wish her the best.

Hamada cannot speak English. But, his sons can.

LoveNot: "I hope this singer is Japanese. Japanese music scene needs at least one singer who can be taken seriously."

How can you take the person seriously? She does nothing but covers. If she is indeed very talented then at the very least I hope this gives her the boost she needs to start making her own music instead of doing glorified karaoke.

I am impressed/intrigued.

Covers which she does "in English, with her original arrangement."

Did you even bother to watch the videos, Smith?

Yoshida Miwa? Hirahara Ayaka?

Hahaha, shouldn't take much skillz to cover AKB48 songs..............

Awww, I like her cover better than AKB48. In fact, I've always found AKB48 overrated.

Some online articles have confirmed that the singer is a Japanese singer and lives in Tokyo. Her English is very good that I almost that she was British.

The "Flying Get" cover is VERY GOOD that I actually bought it off iTunes JP which I rarely do nowadays.

Hope she releases an album of her covers or other songs that she made personally.
