Tattoos on chicks are not cool, yuck.

I thought Japan looks down upon tattooed people . . .

would you fellows think the same about Jolie? Anyway it's probably fake.

A real brain here. It's a real tattoo. Entertainers are able to have without the prejudice. The same way that black entertainers in the US have better life than regular black people.

My being ignorant has nothing to do with my being a proud American. :P

I have to agree wit Ossan and Jericho - in my opinion, tattoos are just plain ugly. I can understand that tattoos do happen to drunks, druggies, and misguided youth, but at her age, she should at least cover it up in public. Why Coca Cola would choose this freak is mind boggling.

I was just saying the other day that pop music is like pepsi...a product tailored for the masses to consume, I was wrong. it's like coca cola

Who cares about the tatoos. She is cute and has great legs. I do wonder though, would they stop her from entering and Onsen?

She's aged

Im bewildered. A good number of the magazines on display and TV commercials have Japanese girls in all kinds of wild attire, piercings everywhere, and tatoos. Yet these are the girls who are apparently very cool. One minute youre a gangster (if you are not famous) and the next an icon. I don`t get it.

There are lots of hot chicks with tatoos however...

I suppose it is a matter of taste – as for me it is a turn-off, and a hard-wired one at that. Just as I wouldn’t give a smoker a second look, neither would I be the slightest bit interested in a tattooed girl. I’d say the same for multiple mutilations (aka ear piercings). To me, tattoos and all the rest say damaged goods, low self respect, and societal fringe. Since I don’t drink any soft drinks either, this add, tattoos and all, is a turnoff.

Her picture reminds me of a photo of a greased up and very dirty motorcycle rider I once saw, swigging back a beer.

Tattoos or not tattoos, an individual preference but I like Amuro and her tats seems quite tasteful. Doubt if I'll run out and buy a coke, but I like their commercials. By the way, very conservative senator from Arizona, Barry Goldwater, had tattoos. Definitely looking forward to Amuro's 'wild' dance.

I thought I recall hearing her tattoo was her childs name. Regardless, a tattoo is a permanent self-expression that has absolutely nothing to do with lack of self-respect or anything of the sort. It's a personal choice, not a psychological gauge. The real issue is culture, in which Japan is not a tattoo-accepting society. And that's fine. Everywhere else in the free world this wouldn't be of any discussion.

TJrandom: Are you serious? Tattoos are only for druggies and drunks huh? While I agree that too many tattoos is ugly but a few here or there aren't that bad

Come on people I think some of you have been in Japan for too long.

Forgot this part in my last post

As far as amuro goes, she's not half bad. Kinda don't like how she went from J-pop to a hip-hop style but some of her songs are bearable at least.

But she is unchinanchu which makes her ok in my book!

She's got a healthy body all right.

"Coke Cola Zero" ( my spelling )

It's all right. Better than I expected.

Amuro's biggest tattoos have significance. One is of her sons name, another is kind of a memorial for her mother's death. She's a complex woman that's for sure, and this is probably the most out there she's allowed herself to be. Considering there aren't too many and the big ones have a personal significance, she's doing well. At least she's not binge drinking, abusing drugs, or whoring herself out somewhere. She's a dedicated mom, and a hardworker. 2 things to be respected.

That's five things, surely?

But I'm with you. She's also pretty durable - chart-topping when I arrived here in '95 and still way up there, unlike so many of the flash-in-the-pan cutesy squeakers who cropped up in the interim and disappeared without a trace.
