Interesting. I thought that the Casino Royale was the best film I'd seen for a very long time. Can't ever remember leaving a cinema and hearing such a reaction from the other people there.

Quantum of Solace was disappointing in comparison but I've not met anyone who didn't like the first one.

eh? actually QOS was a great movie, loads of action, great music, great locations. Loved every bit of it. And Craig does a great job as a Bond, so many people were skeptical before CR got made.

very envious of the swirl surrounding him in the pic

I actually thought his partner Geoff with a cameo by secretariat would be the way to go....

I think Craig has it in him to be one of the best Bonds ever. In this era, we know now that CIA and Interpol agents get into the action and of course are down on the ground on the frontline. It's not always covert ops and incognito that wins the day.

The Mission Impossible franchise is also aware of this as they are trying to move away from face masks and voice chips. I think both franchises share common elements but the one element that stands out is Daniel Craig, we know he's tough. He alone changes the whole tone of a Bond film. Now all he needs is a good story and decent direction.

I have to admit, Craig is the best Bond since Connery. George Lazenby comes in a close third. : )

Guess I am showing my age, but the only true Bond was Sean Connery. Never liked any of the other ones. I think Timothy Dalton came closest, but his movies were too dark and serious.

Agree Sean Connery and the early movies were the closest to the books(many differences though). Bond was not a super-hero/tough guy he survived many assignments due to luck, etc.

With Roger Moore the movies got into the realm of fantasy/action movies.

Read "Moonraker" very different from the movie and Bond barely survived.

Roger Moore's bad performances were also the result of a falling out between Harry Saltzman and Albert Broccoli, with TMWTGG being the nadir. He wasn't an action hero, just a pretty boy with a deft chop. Sean Connery was the original, and the standard by which all are judged, but Daniel Craig surpasses him in many respects. Let's hope he gets a decent script this time...

^^ I'm pretty sure "sunhawk" was being sarcastic.

Yeah, I have every Bond film from the beginning to most recent, and while I LOVE the old ones through the 60's-70's, I really feel the modern Daniel Craig versions have re-captured that true Bond feeling. They are some of the best to watch, high quality, great story, amazing action. Can't wait for this new one!!! Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem, (NoCountryForOldMen), what an awesome A-list!!

How about a Bond with thick hair and some height. Not some short balding dude.

A James Bond movie set in Tokyo would be awesome!

'You only live twice" came close. Still prefer the Book.

Kill the bad guys, girls by the side, Bond wins the day, The End, predictable yet ok, Roger Moore's Bond films were better.

Looking forward to this immensely. I will never understand why, when the studio faced financial trouble, they shut down the film guaranteed to rake in tons of profit. Four years is too long to wait for a Bond film.

And although Roger Moore was probably the least Bond-like of all the Bonds, he was, by a considerable margin, the best Roger Moore. Which puts him several leagues ahead of that dolt Lazenby.

The Roger Moore films were basically cartoons/comedy. Within that genre, sure, it was enjoyable. But it is not the James Bond tale, imho. Sean Connery was the perfect Bond and will always be.

When is 007 going to get AIDS?

The titles keep getting dumber but I do like Sam Mendes.

While you took a beating with the downvotes ...

I don't know. Not really a fan of Bond. I always saw him as the "charming and sophisticated secret agent" who has an air of elegance around him but can still kick ass if the need arises.

Craig ... he can rough it out with the best of them, he is probably the most physically capable of all the actors who played the role, but he isn't doing all that well in the charm and class department. He is kind of too much of a brute.

I don't know, maybe Bond was like this in the original books. But it isn't the image I (and probably many others) have in my (our) heads.

And for most part, IMO Bond has kind of out stayed his welcome. He is a character for a different age in a way. He has more or less been displaced by newer "secret agents" like Jason Bourne.

My 2c.

Please understand you have no chance for success!

Daniel Craig’s third outing as the suave British superspy.

Creig is anything but suave! He is the ugliest bond of them all!

I really want to be Daniel Craig in this picture. Which woman will I take home tonight? Do I just want vanilla or will it be sweet chocolate tonight? Vanilla and Chocolate? Is that too much to ask? Good chocolate is rare in Japan so I think I'll start there.
