Nicholson, Stallone, Ford, Lucas, Spielberg bring star power to Tokyo

Movie fans will be in for a treat over the next six weeks as some of Hollywood's biggest stars visit to promote their films. First up will be Jack Nicholson, 71, who will be here at the end of April for "The Bucket List." Nicholson hasn't been to Japan to promote a film since 1994's "Wolf."

Sylvester Stallone, who was here last year for his 6th "Rocky" film, will arrive with much fanfare at the Japan premiere of "John Rambo" on May 8. The 61-year-old star will reportedly arrive at Roppongi Hills in a tank.

In early June, Harrison Ford, 65, director Steven Spielberg, 61, and producer George Lucas fly in for "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." It will be the first time for Ford, Spielberg and Lucas to promote a film together in Japan.

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which comes 19 years after the last film in the series, has its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, and then opens around the world the following week, except in Japan where it will open June 21.

1st: Stallone was here to promote his 6th Rocky film, not fourth. But him arriving in a tank would be cool.

2nd. Thank you Japan media monkeys for delaying the Indy Jones movie by a frigging months. As with Star Wars episode 3, I will know the plot, ending, and maybe one of the quotes. Maybe for once they should focus not on copy rights, but consumer rights. I guess it's gonna be a bit torrent download for me....

Moderator: Thanks for the Stallone correction.

Just typical that Japan is the only country in the world to delay the release of the Indiana Jones movie. The movie distribution system here needs a huge overhaul. It's a complete and utter joke and surely not lost in the eyes of Japanese consumers and distribution companies alike. Don't they feel embarrassed to have such major stars coming here and the movies not even available for people to see at the time?

Yes but the big question is, are these stars such ooooooooooomono that they are not considered criminals like the rest of us and so NOT fingerprinted on arrival. I'm interested to know.
