Norika Fujiwara splits up with boyfriend

Actress Norika Fujiwara has broken up with her boyfriend. Tabloid media reported Thursday that Fujiwara, 40, and her boyfriend, a 43-year-old stock analyst, parted ways one month ago.

The reported reason for the split is that Fujiwara's ex-boyfriend, whom the tabloids refer to as "A-san," was transferred to Hong Kong. He wanted Fujiwara to relocate there with him, but she said no, according to Sankei Shimbun. The couple had been together since last July.

Sources close to Fujiwara were quoted by the paper as saying she wanted to concentrate on her work in Japan. Most recently, she performed in the stage musical “Cabaret” in March and April.

The actress also said that since last year's disaster, she did not want to be away from Japan. Fujiwara, who is a goodwill ambassador for the Japanese Red Cross, has made numerous visits to the Tohoku region and participated in many fund-raising events. After performances of "Cabaret," she would often be seen in the lobby helping to collect funds for Tohoku.

Hey, that's Ayumi Hamasaki's line!

Do we really need to hear about every time someone separates from his mistress or her boyfriend ?

This is great news for single men everywhere!

I guess people will praise Norika and Ayumi for their nationalistic dedication. But it's also a pretty insular attitude, which reinforces the stereotype of the Japanese being "island people" who don't really appreciate the wider world.

Either that or she has no gig in HK as opposed to doing say..a full day TV ad shoot in Japan that brings in what? about as much as a full year's worth in fees for a security analyst after the subprime meltdown?

jefflee,

usually yr snide remarks are fun & spot on, but perhaps you missed the bit about here involvement witht eh RED CROSS, that alone wud likely be enough to nix an overseas stay.

The guy who put his job ahead of his girl is the one who perhaps made the mistake!

The reason for the split is always more sinister. I'm sure her agent had a hand in getting this report out since it's one month behind.

She can't be seen as the one who is the source of friction in her relationships. The women must always search for that angle to declare themselves the victims.

The fact is this. Norika Fujiwara is the common denominator in all her failed relationships.

Be real and honest with yourselves. You know she's a hot woman. As a man, are you just going to let your company roll you out of a great relationship? Everybody in the office is jealous Now suddenly you get transferred to HK?

Now let me give you a more realistic scenario. Norika Fujiwara is a powerful public image. Lets say she got tired of you and didn't want you talking to the press. What would a few phone calls from her lawyer and agents get you?

What would it take to make a person shut up? She's a mean one. As cuddly as a cactus perhaps?

You guys should do a little research into what those K1 Fighters have to say about Norika Fujiwara ;-). That's the good stuff.

Export Expert I think in Japan its generally understood as, ; better for worse, for richer or porrer, in sickness and in health and untll death do we part, unless you want to live somewhere I am not that keen on in which case no deal.

One great-looking 40 year-old. Best luck to her, and condolences to him.

This is what (unfortunately) passes for entertainment. Some people need to live their lives, and diffuse emotions vicariously through people they think they know in the media. On a lighter note, however - she is looking fine!!!!!!!!!!!

has made numerous visits to the Tohoku region and participated in many fund-raising events.

She's a saint in Ishinomaki up here in Sendai. She is ranked number one. Everyone in Ishinomaki can't stop loving Norika Fujiwara. I say she's the descending angel to help the needy.

She seems to like investment banking types. She dated a stock analyst (gaijin) friend of a friend about 10 years ago (only lasted a few dates). I can see it from his point of view, he probably has a good career that could allow him to retire early if he keeps his job for a few more years. He is getting on, so to quit now would be foolish. Nothing happening in Japan in the markets, so everyone is bugging out.

I'm sure the country won't fall to pieces any more than it already has if she decides to move to HK.

The key here is the boyfriend. Did he get shipped off because his BOSS was jealous? Or maybe they were worried the relationship would distract the boyfriend from his job? The solution? Ship him overseas to a foreign-speaking country. Odds are she's not going to follow him, and now the guy's boss has a chance at her.

Who cares?

Who cares?

It's "Entertainment" news. Guys like to keep track of who is and who isn't available. We need to know who is going to fall for our irresistible charms. ;-) Norika-chan, I'll be right over! (I just have to win the lottery, first. My charms will be quite resistible until then.)

Hong Kong better than tokyo ? Not in the real world it most certainly is not.

Who needs men when she can have her cake and eat it too.

@Cletus: Norika is NOT a 'wannabe'.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Norika is still ridiculously hot.

Worked with her on a TV project about six years ago. Man, I didn't even recognize her. She has really porked up in the face. Gotta a feelin' old age will not be kind to Norika.

Why did I read this story? I'm so confused. Is this news?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

She can cry on my shoulder if she needs one to cry on, I'll offer to console her.

But amazes me how many of these people divorce coz one wants to live somewhere else. pretty fickle sort of types what ever happended to for better for worse, for richer or porrer, in sickness and in health and untll death do we part etc .

Net, was thinking the same thing. She seems to be the "I'm so happy and kind" in public but I get a feeling she's not like that in person. She seems to get cheated on a lot too.

what! 40?! pretty!!! i thought 25sai! lol

lol! maitake xD !!!

She is Christmas Cake way past the expiration date as my friend is saying to me ! LOL (after she explains Christmas keki....really? OMG

anyhow. Her prospects for a nice guy ran away 15+ years ago, so rather than be a cat lady she's working to save for her own pension. The guy will find a girl in her early 20s and post the engagement announcement within the year. She'll still be without a guy.

Exportexpert - " fickle sort of types what ever happended to for better for worse, for richer or porrer, in sickness and in health and untll death do we part etc ."

You mean those Christian wedding vows that are so commonplace in Japan due to if being a staunch Christian nation ......hang on...!

If they need to live vicariously through others, they clearly are NOT living their lives.

It's sad to see a beautiful and attractive person such as Fujiwara Norika put her career before the thing that offers most happiness in life... a loving family and having children...

Well, on the other hand, at least it's a good career... but nothing beats having kids.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

More likely she didn't want to go to Hong Kong, there's a lot of xenophobia toward the Chinese here.

I guess people will praise Norika and Ayumi for their nationalistic dedication. But it's also a pretty insular attitude, which reinforces the stereotype of the Japanese being "island people" who don't really appreciate the wider world.

After all, one of her main ambitions has been to work on the global stage. Now she won't re-locate to a place a 4-hour flight away that's a center of the Asian filmmaking industry....because of a past earthquake?

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Just for the record, I am available my dear.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Slow news day hey JT!!! Really who cares if this wannabe breaks up with her boyfriend. What is this a news site or a gossip mag?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

25? That is a joke. The women looks her age. Amazing what make can do!

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Perhaps she doesn't love him enough to sacrifice her life and career.....I know that feeling.!.

The feeling must be mutual.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Pukey2, you are right. Japanese women in Hong Kong are totally changed. They do not look like kawaii fake girls but adult women with strong will and intelligence dressing really with better taste. I love professional Japanese women that have decided to emigrate and follow a career. Hong Kong is one of their paradise. Not many Japanese male and female professionals I know are eager to come back to Japan. I am sorry for the pro Japanese and Chinese hater without knowing what life in Hong Kong looks like. But Hong Kong is the best place in Asia for stock market and it is more and more powerful after Japan radiation and economic crisis. For Westerners our place in Asia. We are more welcome than in Japan. Even immigration is effective and you do not feel lost in translation or "unwelcomed guest" like in Japan. I also guess that Noriko cannot beat Hong Kong and Chinese movie stars. The level of tarento in Hong Kong surpasses Japan. But for me South Korean actors and movies are the best in Asia.

Hong Kong better than tokyo ? Not in the real world it most certainly is not.

It's quite popular for many Japanese women who want a career and want to be taken seriously and not just pour cups of tea for the men in the office. Much easier and quicker to get PR there than in Japan. I know one or two who have lived there for a number of years - ain't coming back anytime soon.

Yes, something a bit fishy, considering that she's more well known as an actress in HK than in Japan. She's seen as less of a tarento there.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

As the World turns. In fact it is very round. These "cuties" turn into dishes after so many miles of wear and tear.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Yes, there is something that beats having kids. NOT having kids ;-)

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Yes, Hong Kong is really better! I have lived for 8 years in Tokyo and it is overrated. It is not me that tells this but international reports and many expats including Japanese having formerly lived in Japan. A-san is very lucky. He will find a better lady here.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

A-san is very lucky. Hong Kong rocks! It is better than Tokyo.. In Hong Kong there are really beauties and youngest tallest top model Asian women ready to go out with him. If a woman does not follow you she does not deserve you. From July they dated and she is not ready to travel abroad in a good place. Probably she was not very interested in him but only good dates in expensive Tokyo restaurants and hotels.
