Fujiwara, Jinnai divorcing after two years of marriage

Popular actress Norika Fujiwara, 37, and her husband Tomonori Jinnai, 35, will file for divorce in the near future, her office said Thursday. They got married in February 2007, with around 2,000 fans surrounding the place of their ceremony.

Jinnai, a comedian, told a TV program Thursday morning, ''We are keeping our distance so that things will move in the right direction.'' Fujiwara is currently in Kenya as an ambassador for the Red Cross.

News of the divorce was first reported by tabloid media earlier Thursday. According to the reports, Fujiwara and Jinnai have already signed the divorce papers. The reports quoted sources close to the two as saying that they have irreconcilable differences and that they made the decision to divorce after Fujiwara finished her musical at the end of February.

While Fujiwara is based in Tokyo, Jinnai has commuted between Tokyo and Osaka for his regular TV programs. Insiders say the two have been stressed out due to the long-distance relationship since their marriage in 2007.

Oh my God there is a chance

Probably due to small winner, or big loser.

I totally predicted this.....big, flashy wedding - what a waste...

Sad, though.

cleo; par for the course. these celebs are just playing the game. no sympathy.

cleo -- gotta agree with spudman. If I felt for one second that there was a deep "love" behind this marriage, I'd feel some element of sympathy. But, I cannot make myself really believe there was. As I recall, before they got married, about all she could say about why they were attracted to each other was something about them both being from the same part of Japan, or the like. Hardly reason to get married -- although I quess it beats blood type. OR, maybe that is the reason.

spud, herefor -

OK, then it's sad they just 'played the game' and had no 'deep love' behind the marriage, or that deep love didn't blossom after the wedding. Sad that two people made a mess of what is supposed to be the most important contract in life (and beyond...)

It's still sad. For whatever reason.

Agree with spudman and friends. Big flasy wedding (that I believe was broadcast live - I cannot think why). Moreover, the whole event cost a fair bit of dosh. Now they are divorcing. What a waste (of time).

No, no... it's happy. They've realised their mistake early, have no kids, are making a clean break and both are still young enough to find someone they really love.

They did seem like an odd couple, I always thought.

Maybe I am biased but wouldn't Norika do better in an international marriage?!

A two-year marriage for a Japanese celebrity is just part of the career track. It is necessary to validate there worth in the eyes of the public. That is why every interview eventually leads to the question when are you getting married? After they do their time they go back to business as usual.

I would love to be a celebrity just for one day in Japan, so when they ask me about marriage. I can say "It is none of your business. Next question?"

SWEET!!!

They both chose careers over marriage. Neither one seems to be able to combine the two, which is a shame because they could be missing so much happiness . . .

big, flashy wedding - what a waste...

Er.. I don't think so.

Big, flashy wedding for celebrities = More publicity = More money.

I think u meant "big, flashy wedding - what GOOD BUSINESS!

If you treated the media/public like that, you would be a celebrity "just for one day"!

aaawww...I'm so sorry to hear that. I always admire Norika for being different from most J women/celebrities. Well, if your marriage fails, just move on Norika..! My best wishes!

I&'m done with Norika

I'm sure she'll be devastated.

Maybe I am biased but wouldn't Norika do better in an international marriage?!

Well, maybe you have a chance, since cracaphat's now out of the running.

I have something of a soft spot for Norika, as I remember watching some drama of hers when I first moved to Japan, and I'd hoped that this wasn't some kind of celeb publicity stunt sham marriage. And maybe it wasn't - they just underestimated the difficulties of the long-distance relationship even after marriage.

I'm here for the rebound relationship, Norika! And I'm even based in Tokyo.

She was a laughingstock for marrying this guy.And now she will be a laughingstock for getting dumped by him.Serves her right. Wonder whose going to want to marry her now that shes almost 40.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I always just saw her wedding as two-part: something she felt she needed to do as she's going on forty, and something to give a much needed shot to her career... which is has (not much of one, but a little).

I used to think Norika was something special and noteworthy. . . . Okay, I just thought she was hot.

And she still is.

But after it was revealed on one of the countless variety shows that clog the airwaves that Niroka had a special "Norika Only" room in the Fujiwara/Jinnai home that Tomonori was absolutely "forbidden" to enter, I got a better idea of her over-inflated sense of self-importance. Par for the course with most celebrities, to be sure, which is why this divorce isn't particularly surprising. But it is sad for a number of reasons.

I hope Jinnai can pick up the pieces of his crippled career after it having been essentially castrated by Norika's overwhelming need to hog the limelight.

age is just a number. shes beautiful she can still find somebody like DEMI MOORE , guys who are educated and rich.. be visible ..ask an expert to find guys that is best for you NORIKA ..or ask those guys their resume and how much they are worth in intelligence and finances ,ok??

Google it.

Bogi,

Yes, that is the point. I understand the media will be curious about my personal life but as normal human you can sense when the questions are sincere and timing is right. Every media situation is not appropriate to continue to update the media about my relationship status. As well as my opportunity to stay in the spotlight by always bringing it up keep the buzz going.

Remember the celebrity who got caught at the love hotel with the married baseball player? Now all she talks about is her relationship with her boyfriend and possible marriage to stay current. It's pretty pathetic.

just googled it but it doesn't say. what I mean is that for example Christiano Ronaldo is an Ambassador because most people in the world know who he is. He is Fifa world player of the year and most countries receive images of him. therefore people can relate to him when they meet him. Surely people in Kenya would think - who the hell is this woman? that's my point, that's all. ambassador is not the same as volunteer.

Fujiwara is currently in Kenya as an ambassador for the Red Cross.

so she's a big star in Kenya???

She probably isn't. I would say maybe not evening outside of Kanto. I think the Red Cross looks for people from different countries. I also believe they didn't ask for her but more like she was given to them. I think she volunteered and the title used for her position is Ambassador of blah, blah.

Me thinks Norika still pines for Andy Hug. RIP

It's a well known fact that Fujiwara's management office are yakuza. I imagine that poor old Jinnai was used just for a publicity marriage in the first place. And more than likely to paper over the cracks of another relationship that Fujiwara had been having for years but one that could not be seen by the public eye. I doubt very much that Jinnai and Fujiwara have ever slept with each other or even lived together. A publicity marriage of convenience but Jinnai probably did quite well from the arrangement.

She was a laughingstock for marrying this guy.And now she will be a laughingstock for getting dumped by him.Serves her right. Wonder whose going to want to marry her now that shes almost 40.

Ninjazilla, I can assure you that the people lining up at her door to date is greater in number than anythat would cue at your door or mine. Hey 40 nowadays is still young and boy does she good when marketing for Uniqlo!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hey Norika I am available. I can imagine the dissapointment when Jinnai just didn't measure up. I offer a six month trial and you will see that I provide deep satisfaction.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I dont know magpie in Japan they are more picky about what they consider damaged goods. Norikas mom said Jinnai was rampantly cheating and not just with 2 or 3 woman.Considering his gf before Norika was former Hardcore porn star Oikawa Nao youd think Norika would have suspected he was a playboy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Eh, do not care for either of em. The only product that she will have luck with sponsoring is Uniqlo. Everything else she touched went to crap. He is not much of a comedian besides what he does in Osaka. Blah on em both.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

What on earth is she doing in Kenya...? Surprised they lasted that long...

0 ( +0 / -0 )

According to all the reports I've seen, she is dumping him, not the other way around. The main problem of the relationship was him fooling around. It happened earlier in the marriage, and she said she would keep trying, then it happened again last year. I am glad they are getting a divorce. It is too bad it didn't work out, but it didn't seem like a great match in the first place. I remember thinking, "Jinrai?" when they got married. Norika is doing great work using her celebrity status to bring attention to the work the Red Cross is doing around the world.

Noriko probably didn't have the correct alignment of the Feng Shui in her house which led to marital problems.. As for Jinan, he is cute... have to be aware of those Japanese guys that are cute and used to date porn stars..!! What was Noriko thinking.. great that it lasted for 2 years. Guess she had enough and ready to move on. Question now lies in, who is Jinan and Noriko to date now?.. hmmm

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Shes gonna end up and old maid.

This was never meant to be, A-status actress marries one of a thousand Japanese comedians who made her laugh. Woke up one morning and realized the humor dried up. Bio-clock ticketing, must find better stock quick. Norika has always been in the public eye a good humanitarian and in my opinion has a true desire to do good for those who are in need. Hope true love finds it's way into her heart.

I like how Jinnai dodged questions aobut his affair with another woman today at the press conference. What a loser! Here's hoping Fujiwara finds a man the second time around, and not a punk like Jinnai.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ah so he cheated on her?
