Obama lookalike comedian Nocchi hones his routine

Japanese comedian Nocchi, 43, who is said by some to resemble U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, can expect a lot of job offers, according to an online survey. Ncchi, whose real name is Nozomu Sato, has recently become popular on TV programs because of his resemblance to Obama. He has studied Obama's mannerisms to perfect his mimicry.

In the online survey about Obama conducted by an Internet-based marketing company, 39.1% of respondents said the new president will positively influence the Japanese economy and 44.7% of them said it will be a good opportunity for Nocchi to make a big name for himself in Japan's entertainment industry.

Nocchi actually met Obama briefly at a campaign rally while in the U.S. for a TBS variety program. Obama spotted him and said: “You're Obama” -- an occasion that was covered by the Chicago Tribune.

Hey as long as Obama himself said so and there's no blackface it should be cool.

that's a lookalike? as in "they all look alike"? coz if nocchi resembles obama (physically: maybe his "mono-mane" skills are in fact excellent), then i want to get some work as a taro aso lookalike!

One step: He's 5 foot 7 (generously).

Another step: The skin tones don't match.

And another: Oh, he's not black. The guy's Asian.

By any stretch of reasonable imagination, how does this guy resemble the man who could lead the free world beginning Jan. 20?

He doesn't.

Someone should impersonate japanese comedians. Pretty easy though, just stand there and not be funny.

Loonie's wishful thinking.

Looks nothing like him, but hey, compared to the rest of Japanese comedy I'm sure it's a riot.

Wow! He looks just like him! Not!

why dont these twits do their jobs & impersonate the aso`s of their world, Jpn desperately needs to really slag their politicians because they so derserve it, but alas not likely to happen

I would be a better choice-- I am white, of which obama is half. Obama isn't Japanese at all.

But he has the same name as a Japanese town! Banzai!

He must encash the situation and chance which falls in your lap once in a million.

looks more like a drunk salary man

i still remember the japanese mr bean impersonators. they were so unfunny and unbeanlike that it was unintentionally completely hilarious.

Aren't the prerequisites for being called an Obama lookalike comedian that: a) You should look like Obama; and b) that you should be funny. I saw him on TV 2 days ago and found him about as funny as watching Schindler's List.

The tarento on the show seemed to be loving it though.

I think the looks department isn't that far off. I think he has a good foundation that can be worked on with not much effort with some Hollywood makeup.

He got passed up for a spot in the Nailin' Palin porn parody. Didn't have the right stuff, I guess.

This guy looks nothing like Obama.and he isn't funny, saw him on the tube. As much as I don't like Sanma, he is funnier that this "comedian". At Sanma can make me almost chuckle every 15 minutes.

VERY GOOD SLIZZER YOU MADE MY DAY...ha.ha.ha...

just be careful - a lot of the japanese idiocy that subs for humor does NOT TRANSLATE WELL in other contries.

He looks nothing like him to me. I guess that is the difference between Western eyes and Eastern Eyes.

I watched the program when he 'met' Obama and it ACTUALLY went like this;

Obama was shaking hands with random people in the crowd...

Nocchi said; 'I'm Obama'

Obama giggled and said, 'oh, you're Obama!' like he was repeating him.

Obama's reaction was all smiles, but he certainly didnt point this guy out in the crowd and say 'You're Obama!'.

This was on TV just this week...

Related humor - The two new leaders are named after the part of the body you sit on! - Abummer and Asol. - Everybody wants to get in on the act!

I agree with Dennis.

Im half black and white but look nothing like Obama. And this guy?! Cmon... about as close as most parent would let Michael Jackson get to their kids. But... maybe in Japan I can be a Tom Cruise lookalike! Yeah! Show me the money! Just more Japanese bandwagon phases... next it will be Palin... shudder Japan stick to Japan. You will never be America or even a poor copy... for that we have Canada ;)

At least he's not in blackface. As far as Japanese comedians go, I'd consider that progress.

I agree with Sarge and Dennis.

Hahah a drunk salary impersonating Obama at a work party "Oh you Americajin? Oh I like Obama san! I am Obama san!"

Again, another attempt from Japan to identify and mimic all things American.

First, the city of Obama residents cheering, now this?

Pathetic.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

OMG are you kidding me, this guy does not in any way look like Obama. Cmon japan please cmon.

Man the Japanese are going to screw this one up I think. How long UNTIL the blackface thing comes out? I mean christ they had those ads with the monkey talking about "change" that were finally pulled after complaints and international attention. Japan doesn't understand how sensitive the issue is about Obama being black. I'm willing to bet they go overboard with this comedy and jokes and piss off the foreign community here - and abroad.

Actually, I look like Nocchi. I am 6' 1", blond and have green eyes.

At this moment I am studying his mannerisms to perfect my mimicry.

Therefore, "I am Nocchi."

"Oh, you're Nocchi?"

hahahaha

First, the "Obama" city with Obama supporters. Now, we have the Japanese Obama by the name Nocchi!! Oh, my God...what's going on here???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow!!! He's not funny. I saw the program too. All the people around the comedian was looking at him like he was crazy at the rally!!!! He got a tan or something. That's not his orginal skin color. Japan better be careful. The world is watching Japan. You don't want the black face coming out!!! Be careful !!!! This can come right back at you.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Look like Obama? No he can't.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

methinks obama has a thick enough skin to deal with this kind of thing. after all, any impersonation that slides into childish mimicry reflects badly on the impersonator, not the impersonated.

OMG! not even closer hey you must see this this man from Indonesia, and he's the one and only who realy was the obama's look alike in this world
