How much do the musicians make for each sale? Anyone have any idea?

@shonanbb

It depends massively on who the musician is. The better your track record, the more you can demand each time. Beginners get peanuts, established artists can make a fortune from one album. (Michael Jackson famously earned 98 million dollars from the sales of "Thriller").

This is a sore point with my brother who was quite a popular musician years ago, but got totally screwed over by the record company....

oh well. Just in case anyone doubted the billboard's irrelevance after Swift dominated it for most of the summer, she gets booted off by this crew.

I think this band also goes by the shorter name 1 D. Is that also a comment on the depth of their music?

Just goes to show you that the young generation has no taste or idea about what is good doesn't it.

One Direction alright, downwards.

British boy band One Direction became the only group to score four consecutive No. 1 debuts on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart

I think it is because of the outstanding quality of their music. It is the greatest thing since boy band Beethoven and boy band the Beatles.

1D? You have a point.

Not sure how billboard ranking works, but I suppose the drastic drop in quality as of late could be caused by teenagers buying single songs for a buck whereas previously they had to buy entire albums. Ranks and radio time are probably affected by itunes / spotify interest and this interest comes much cheaper than it did when an album was $20.

To teenagers they are the best.None of us are teenagers-popular music isn't for anyonelse but teenagers-sto bemoaning your lost youth....
