What a blow to their fans worldwide. No surprise, it was inevitable. As they are "put together, boys group" by the music industry to make quick millions. I wonder if 1D even wrote at least 1/2 of their music & lyrics on their own two feet?

Well, someone's going to be in a worse-than-normal mood when she gets home from school this evening.... : (

At least he didn't cite musical/artistic differences.

I wonder how much money they were actually making? I've heard that boy and girl bands see virtually nothing of the money they make and it's mostly taken by the labels.. Although I guess they'd be getting a load of stuff for free

Sorry will anyone notice.

lucabrasi hope your daughter moves on.

Dude, they were (are) making bank! Me daughter's tik last mo costed about 35,000¥ to see 1D. Thats WAY more than what I spend to attend Ozzfest or Mayhemfest when bck stateside.

I love how people slam One Direction based on the simple fact it's not music or they're not important by their elite standards. You all must sound like how your parents were when you were young.

They have fans world wide, their music did make some people happy, dont slag them off because theyre not the crusty guitar players of your youth or theyre not your taste.

Harvey,

hey man go ahead & slag the haters but pls leave the crusty guitar player alone ok LOL!!!!

A one-year hiatus and then try a Robbie Wiiliams? I haven't heard his voice but if it stands up, he's certainly marketable.

Ah, this reminds me of when Take That disbanded. I was crestfallen, but somehow I managed to get over it.

Interestingly, all of them failed to go through as soloists on X-Factor when they tried out. It was the show's judges' idea to put them together as a group to try and compete.

“I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”

I'll join! Hire me! I don't mind leaving normal life behind and jumping into the spotlight! I wouldn't mind models digging me only cuz I'm famous!

Only 4 more to go!

He isn't ever going to live a normal life again. Paparazzi will always be on him like flies on shhhh.

@Educator & it'sonly

Thanks for the concern.

She (daughter) got sent from school (really, no joking) with a temperature of 39.1 this afternoon.... I'd forgotten he was her favourite.

Somehow this band and all its fanbase make me think of AKB48 if a member lives they can move on, but it will never be the same, like when Itano and Maeda left.

I only heard them in a SNL show, I found them pleasant but not extraordinary, and I couldn't fathom why they have such a huge fanbase, but then again they are not my generation so I really don't care

My "crusty guitar players" are STILL in business today. And they write their own material without any help from media, mtv, radio, music executives etc. etc. So that is exactly why I slag them.

Sincerely lucabrasi I take back the Sorry will anyone notice. comment

Guess one direction wasn't enough. Must want to go another direction.

@Educator

Hope not. We told her he's gone to live on a farm....

Educator60: Perhaps your daughter will be consoled by the news that if now appears he is going to try for a solo career.

That's big news apparently; a breathless article claimed he was seen entering (or leaving) a recording studio after claiming he just wanted to unwind from the music scene or something like that.

oh my lord how will we all sleep at night, its as if the world is coming to an end.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

He's got enough money to go back to school, earn a degree and start his own entertainment empire. Good Luck!
