It's because "CNN is fake news" is a war cry to them, it's an emotional battle cry, not a logic-based argument. Simple people with simple minds love simple phrases they can chant:
MAGA!
DRAIN THE SWAMP!
LOCK HER UP!
FAKE NEWS!
MSM!
No one intelligent has ever joined in on these chants. Literally not a single intelligent person in humanity was part of those chants. Only the very, very "simple".
