Happy for Jeff Bridges. He will always be The Dude to me.

Sadly, I still haven't seen Basterds :(

The first 10-15 minutes of Basterds was great, after 15 minutes the movie becomes are cartoon & totally lame. I really didn't understand the Bar scene was it edited properly ? Good editing ?

I hope i can see "Precious" in Japan movie theaters. But I will not hold my breath.

Sandra Bollock was so-so " The Blind-side "

"Hurt Locker" is a great movie. Very true to life !!!!

Moderator: "Precious" will be released in Japan in Golden Week.

Ha ha, that's what you get Avatar supporters. Just because a movie makes money doesn't make it the best.

Haven't seen any of the movies, but the Academy were never going to give best picture to Avatar and James Cameron after they stick they got for giving the best picture Oscar to The Titanic.

Don't know about that, the opinion of people who have been at the pointy end is rather mixed.

Hurt locker was good but once again a war film takes center stage and proves nothing. OK so their job is dangerous but so are thousands of other jobs as well. In retrospect Avatar got snubbed in more ways then one. Avatar is really the future in how we will look at the movies. You look at a Broadway musicals like Cats or the Lion King. Are you going to call them on the carpet because they use makeup and costumes to enhance their performance and say it's not acting? The motion capture performance is every bit the actor and gone really is the need for hours of makeup and expensive complex set changes as the performance can focus on the actor. It is really just digital makeup but the performance is still all the actor.

I see huge potential for this but convincing Hollywood otherwise remains to be seen. People are just not used to seeing actors used in this light. As the technology advances this is going to become more and more an issue down the road. I am not saying Avatar deserved best picture but it should have picked up more awards then it did. In closing while The Hurt Locker was a decent movie I'm not sure it deserved best picture either. I like movies which actually challenge me to think and change my perception of things. In the end it was just another film about the justification of war which in the end benefits no one.

I've read it's laughably inaccurate.

I don't know if this is good movie as best winner. I don't think fun to see it. This must be very good for money business. I wonder people would like to see the documentary of 50 years of Afghanistan war someday.

Maybe you just didn't understand the whole movie

Ah, but that was actually one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Quite suspenseful.

I liked Inglorious Bastards a lot. I went in thinking it was going to be a fast, cheap, violent semi-comedy but after the opening scene I realized it had a lot to offer. By the end I was pretty shocked. Maybe it had something to do with Brad Pitt's character taking up about 95% of the advertising.

Avatar was a bit of a bore for me. I know a lot of people liked it, but it's a movie that made me realize that I'm just not that into fantasy no matter how good it is. It reached it's max potential for me after about 30 minutes then I was pretty much looking at my watch after that.

I really want to check out Hurt Locker... Up was pretty good. Standard Pixar, good characters with heart.

Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, “Inglourious Basterds.” His acting was superb & so was Brad Pitt The director lost direction after 15 minute of the film. thepre - motoguy I will reiterate / I will retort again, the first fifteen minutes was great. After that it was a cartoony, goofy, & not interesting. I saw it in America, many people felt the same way as I. Avatar had great special effects but best picture. Nooooo !!!! thep-moto please wait for Inglouri Part 2. It will probably come out 2015. Hehehehehe!!!!!

Inglourious Basterds is a great film and AVATAR in 3D is a visual treat and great story. If you don't go see AVATAR in 3D at the cinema, you probably won't have another chance to see it in 3D for quite some time. Great movie, but really went to see it because it was in 3D. In 2D it wouldn't have been as awesome. Tarrantino proved that he doesn't need to have someone killed every two minutes to make a great film. He went way too far with Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2. Sandra Bullock should have been eliminated by default for receiving any Academy Awards this year because of that movie All About Steve. It is one of the truly lamest movies I've ever seen. I was kinda forced to watch it, I had no say in the matter. Haven't seen the movie for which she won the Academy, so in fairness to her I'll have to see The Blind Side. Just don't waste your precious time watching All About Steve. You could have more fun eating sand.

Fortunately for the actors, you aren't judged in one movie for parts you played in other movies. Sandra's flops have been well documented ("Speed 2", "Forces of Nature", "All about Steve"), but she was judged the best leading actress in a major motion picture this year for "The Blind Side". Unless you're a member of the Academy you don't really get to say otherwise.

I think Avatar was fighting an up-hill battle for Best Picture once someone noted the parallels between the Avatar script and Disney's "Pocahontas" script. Derivative works start out with a couple of strikes against them.

Actually, I liked Bridges better in The Men who Stare at Goats. Great movie.

I've read mixed reports myself.

What I thought was funny is that there is a Soldier who is suing saying they stole his life story for the film. He even claims to have made up the term "Hurt Locker."

Good luck with that.

I didn't see the Academy Awards myself but I heard that the best director - Kathryn Bigelow - actually said something positive about her own countries military in her acceptance speech. I'm curious if she was able to get out of the building without getting her teeth knocked out by an enraged mob of arch-Liberal Hollywood actors?

Just saw Hurt Locker, what a piece of crap. I can't believe it could win best picture, or screen play, or have the guy nominated for best Actor.

The plot was nonesxistent, just rambling around from scene to scene. Heck even the made for HBO war movies were much better productions. This is film school grade.

Ok, thats going too far. It was a good show. As others have said, laughably inaccurate, but still good. I wouldn't have given it an oscar, but whatever. I don't think very highly of a lot of films that won best picture. So thats nothing new.

Looks like she was able to get out with her teeth. Curiosity satisfied. Watch out for the imaginary monsters in your head though, they are dangerous.

I am extremely happy that Jeff Bridges got his Oscar. A long and fruitful career, given recognition from The Academy, at long last. Satisfactory!
