Oscars adds 'fan favorite' prize voted by Twitter

Grats to Spider-man, I guess.

China is going to be none to happy about the exclusion of their platform and that voting is restricted to Twitter users only:

“Fans flooded social media with complaints about the removal, racking up tens of millions of views on the Twitter-like Weibo platform.” -

“The fan furore over "Friends" was the latest such wave of complaints from Chinese fans.” -

Disney/Marvel has been largely funded by China is recent years, gives them script, contents editing & marketing approval and surrenders 75% of their domestic box office proceeds to the CCP.

Will be interesting to learn how much will be surrendered by Sony in their recent success using some of Disney/Marvel’s characters in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

They should just leave it cancelled

Hmmmmm... how long before this option is abused??

Not an official Oscar category, opting to add in elements of the People's Choice awards. They further dilute the meaning and value of an Academy Award.
