You can't handle the truth, Sarah.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

The dumbest woman in all the world. It's scary that so many Americans look up to her.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

How can they denounce a film if they have not and will not see it?

5 ( +8 / -3 )

must miss!

3 ( +6 / -4 )

'“We’ve discussed this and realized that Hollywood lies are Hollywood lies,” she said, claiming that the depiction of her by the movie’s producers amounts to propaganda for President Obama ahead of a general election on Nov 6.'

Once again we have the dolt palin blaming the media and everyone else for her many moronic mistakes, lies, and general corruption (not to mention lack of intellect). Is the show produced by the Obama campaign? No. So we're back to the usual 'liberal media' excuse the GOP use when they are shown for what they are and called up on what they've done.

Regardless, I've heard the show is dull as anything. Not surprising, given whom it's based on.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

combinibento: "How can they denounce a film if they have not and will not see it?"

That's what the always do. Just look at Moore films -- people denounce those before they even come out.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Tom Hanks Exec producer!? It must be true.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"You can't handle the truth, Sarah"

Yeah! This is a Hollywood production, therefore it must be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, lol.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

“They’re going to do what they can to drum up the money and their machine, and their machine happens to be a very pro-leftist, pro-Barack Obama machine there at HBO that created this movie.”

Huh? Another Palin-ism?

My doubts about her started flooding in after she avoided Katie Curick's (sp?) about what newspapers and magazines she reads. I think she responded by saying she reads a lot of them, or was it all of them. Her responses then and nearly every point thereafter were mind boggling for a vice-presidential candidate. Foreign policy-She can see Russia from Alaska....

I really liked when Saturday Night Live used an unedited transcript of her comments in a comedy routine. It was funny, and scary at the same time.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

surely this must be a comedy flick!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Serrano

Yeah! This is a Hollywood production, therefore it must be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, lol.

So I guess McCain's aides are also part of this left-wing propaganda machine, eh?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The makers of this movie are Obama campaign donors.

It is an early (and mislabelled) election campaign propaganda movie, nothing more.

The only "news" here is that this is mislabelled as entertainment, and that the activist creators get away with that.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

I would not pay for it, but I am sure PirateBay will be working over time.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

@WilliB

election campaign propaganda movie, nothing more

Have you seen the movie? Must it be propaganda because some of the cast and crew have donated to Democratic causes?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

plasticmonkey:

I have not seen it, but the "benefit of doubt" in this case is really pretty think. With their track record, do you really suggest that a bunch of Hollywood liberals will produce an unbiased movie about Palin?? I am not going to pay money for such an unlikely proposition, but when it available for free, i will waste the time and see it.

Really now, money speaks loud and clear in this case. And saying that Hollywood is almost entirely pro Democrat is hardly a stretch now, is it.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

im definately definately and surely absolutely not watching this.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Palin movie 'Game Change' premieres in U.S.

Must watch tha, I thought. Then I realized it was Sarah, not M-M-M-M-Michael.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

A movie about McCain & Palin...add Bush and we can have the 3 stooges remake. I am sure that movie will break all kinds of viewer records...NOT!!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

williB

Come on, clearly palin's worst enemy isnt anybody other than herself, hell even if this is supposed to be a serious flick(oh man how impossible is that haha) I bet if I am sitting at home brew in hand watching I will be laughing my butt off.

Hey if this tart can "quit " politics & bounce around the last few yrs taking fools $$$ surely we are entitled to have a flick to laugh at all this, I mean it is theatre of the absurd, I cant wait LOL!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Everyone likes to spectate at the queer and unusual. It may not be a comedy, but it will be a farce if it is close to reality.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

"It's based on a book that is full of unattributed quotes"

Sounds like great material for a Hollywood movie!

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

The American hard left is out with full force! Sarah Palin is an insirpation to millions of people around the world. Especially to women who seek overcoming the social problems that hold them back. She is one of greatest governor of all time. If she can become to American President, and reach her dream, I will move to USA! I hope the put her on Mount Rushmore someday as great hero and leader.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

yeah right mr green!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The makers of the film have stated that they were very careful to only include details that they could verify. Notice McCain rubbishes the book it's based on, but not the film itself. Perhaps it's because he knows they took more care with the film. Either way, anyone with half a brain knows that Palin was a walking brain-dead zone. She's great at working the media, but you wouldn't want her running the country. There's no need to make anything up about her when there is already so much stupidity already on public record.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

"The film, which stars Julianne Moore as Palin"

Couldn't they get Tina Fey? Pathetic!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Sounds like great material for a Hollywood movie!

Palin's own quotes and gaffes would make great material for a Hollywood disaster or horror movie.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

"Palin's own quotes and gaffes would make great material for a Hollywood disaster or horror movie"

Not compared to Barack Obama's or Joe Biden's!

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Not compared to Barack Obama's or Joe Biden's!

I disagree.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

mccain will go down as the dolt who picked palin and gave her national exposure, all in a lost cause anyway. the fact that the republicans cannot pick a front runner today goes back to the influence that the tea bagging palinistas now have on the falling apart republican party.

No need for me to rehash 2008. Palin was a joke then, now she is a pathetic and soon to be completely forgotten joke now.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Never mind that they have not seen the movie. Conservatives know all about it.

Because God told them.

All of my sponsors can abandon me, because I think Sarah Palin is a dumb tw*t. And its got nothing to do with her gender or conservative identity. My opinion is only about the words that have come from her own dumb mouth and her own dumb actions.

As for the movie, I will judge it when I watch it. I don't have the luxury of God or party telling me what to think before hand.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Ha ha, this thread has sure brought all the Palin haters out of the woodwork!

"the republicans cannot pick a front runner"

Hey, the U.S. is not Russia, where we all knew who would win the election from the get-go. And you must have forgotten that it took the Democrats a little while to nominate Barack over Hillary.

"Palin is a dumb tw*t"

You're entitled to your opinion.

"As for the movie, I will judge it when I watch it"

You're entitled to waste your time watching it.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

You're entitled to waste your time watching it.

Without watching it you have decided it would be a waste of time.

Thank you for proving my point.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

I wonder if they touched on the "birth" of her downs syndrome child in the movie.....you know, the pregnancy that suddenly popped out at 8 months, then she went into labor during a speech and flew cross-country and drove across Alaska to go to a certain hospital that has no record of the birth. Add the fact that any legitimate midwife or OBGYN would absolutely not allow a woman with a high-risk pregnancy to board a plane after going into labor. Meanwhile her abstinence only educated daughter was out of school for months due to a mono infection, and transfered after it cleared up.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

But aides to McCain, including his then chief strategist Steve Schmidt who assisted the film’s producers, have stood behind it.

My thoughts are of the totally clueless McCain wandering around the stage in his second debate with Senator Obama. Schmidt is a loyal American first, one who understands the complete debacle that a person as grossly unqualified and stupid as a next-in-line Palin would have been to the nation he loves more than his party.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Nearly 15 minutes left in the showing on HBO and it's nothing less that terrific.

There is no doubt whatsoever that if the McCain folks could turn back the clock and do it over, they never would have chosen Palin. Never in a million years. Even Cheney called it a reckless decision.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

"Even Cheney called it a reckless decision"

But wasn't Cheney wrong about everything else?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Touching moment when Nicolle Wallace -- the campaign staffer who worked with Palin most -- confessed to her colleagues that she just couldn't vote.

Bravo, HBO.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

But wasn't Cheney wrong about everything else?

Cheney called Palin a reckless choice.

It is really up to Republicans to determine if Dick Cheney knew anything about the office of Vice-President. And just what Cheney's remarks have to say about the morons who actually thought Palin was qualified.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I really want to see this doc.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I just watched HBO's trailer. What a load of crap.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Game Change fills a void on the far left. Obama's many disappointments and his looming defeat - or a thorough thrashing of down-ticket Democrats in November - means more and more nostalgia for the apparent unity that was there on the far left through '03 to '08, but which consisted mostly of unbridled, seething hate - for Bush, Cheney and then in the person of Palin, for pretty much everything about traditional America.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

“Ten weeks of the campaign are condensed into a two-hour movie. But it tells the truth of the campaign. That is the story of what happened,” Schmidt told the Los Angeles Times in an interview.

Steve Schmidt was Senator John McCain's campaign director.

What a load of crap.

Let's see: We have McCain's own campaign director saying it tells the truth of the campaign. What position do the morons who think Palin is qualified have to argue with him?

That's right, none.

The person touting "traditional America" doesn't even live here. It's obvious he has to cast many millions of Americans with legitimate concerns about the person Dick Cheney called a "reckless choice" in with the far left, because that's how he expresses his own seething and sociopathic hatred for them.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I couldn't believe she was real... very surreal moment, even by the standards of America's right wing politics.

Remember those words when you get the chance to view it. The closely match the feelings of McCain's staff when the real Palin started to emerge.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

God it says alot, when even McCain's coterie of idiots were shocked. This should be good.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

But wasn't Cheney wrong about everything else?

Its a statistical impossiblity to be wrong about everything. Cheney did plumb new lows though.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I just watched HBO's trailer. What a load of crap.

Its always best to judge a book by its cover. Don't let stodgey old people like your grandma tell you any differently.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You guys are too hard on Palin. Remember she was endeared to many a conservative. Seems she still is. If the goal was to preach to the choir, she was the perfect choice. Unfortunately for McCain, the goal was to win over independents and others who actually have the audacity to think for themselves, and judge a candidate by something other than the (R) after their name or the fact that they literally wrap themselves in the flag.

Palin was precisely what so many conservatives wanted. In many ways, she was a fair representative. And that is what is truly frightening.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

oginome

If those three represent 'traditional America', then the country is even worse than I thought. Gun-totin', homophobic, backward idiots.

Those three? Read what I wrote. Palin is the the one who represents a set of traditional values that the Democrat Party is absolutely terrified of young women adopting. She is a woman with a stable marriage, she is happy, has balanced career and family and refuses the competitve victimhood mentality the left inculcates in young women.

Your blind hatred of the US is well-known here but I have to point out that "Gun-totin', homophobic, backward idiots" is usually reserved for the South, in particular the regions settled by the Scottish and Irish who the New Englanders would not allow to settle in the early NE colonies.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

If only for a recap of the 2008 US election cycle, I will definitely tune in to this when it is available for viewing online.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"It is always best to judge a book by its cover."

This is a movie, not a book, and I have yet to see a bad trailer of a good movie, if the trailer's bad, the movie's invariably bad.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@Serrano

Yeah! This is a Hollywood production, therefore it must be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, lol.

Yeah, like pretty much any Michael Moore or Oliver Stone movie. Take the reality they want, make it into a movie, and suddenly it's the new reality. Well, for people who think Tina Fey's lines are what Sarah Palin actually said, anyway.

@donkusai

The makers of the film have stated that they were very careful to only include details that they could verify.

Yeah? Just who verified these details? http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2012/03/09/top-10-lies-game-change (Note: This review is by someone who has seen the movie.)

@yabits

Nearly 15 minutes left in the showing on HBO and it's nothing less that terrific.

So it strokes all of your prejudice buttons. You can use it as a tool to justify hating someone you already wanted to hate anyway. Probably because it's based on all the rumors and inneundo you wanted to believe in 2008.

@oginome

Gun-totin', homophobic, backward idiots.

But you're not prejudiced or bigoted in any way, right? You just keep telling yourself that, junior.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Has anyone on here who claims Palin is dumb, please list exactly what she has said or done that makes you think she is dumb. Something at least on the scale of Obama refusing to learn how to pronounce "corpsman", or Biden saying... well pretty much anything. Did she demand that the government force a Catholic college to pay for her contraceptives? Oh wait, that was someone the Left looks up to...

The people (Schmidt, anyway) who ran the McCain campaign are now trying to shift blame to someone else, hoping that they'll get hired to run another campaign in the future. The same people who leaked false rumors about Palin and Africa. The same people who set her up for a heavily-edited interview with Couric. CBS? The same network that tried to sink Bush's re-election with phony National Guard documents? Yeah, great thinking there. Palin wrote a column that appeared in newspapers nationwide - including the New York Times - only a few weeks before her interview with Couric. Yet Couric asked her what newspapers she read? Eh? Apparently, even Katie Couric doesn't read the NYT.

Palin energized the campaign. In fact, it was the only bump McCain's campaign got. Especially after the focus of the campaign went from border security and terrorism to the economy (Funny, three years later, it's still the economy. The Republican candidates each had records of cutting spending, balancing budgets, and improving economies, but for some strange reason, the best pick was supposed to be a far-left radical/wanna-be Marxist who had zero private-sector experience... and Biden?!? It must have been because Leftists have such a great track record with economies. Just look at the old Soviet Union, North Korea, Vietnam... same mindset, same mentality, same empty promises. Now that's some impressive marketing, Democrats. Oh, and you still had to play the race card. No, it's because Obama "wasn't Bush". Well now he has to campaign that he's not Obama either. Oh wait, I'm getting distracted...). But once Palin was on board, she quickly became the star. Better speeches than McCain's, much more appealing to the cameras, and more connection with staunch conservatives, where McCain was weak. McCain's campaign staff clearly didn't know how to deal with that.

But like it has been said, it was all moot. Christ had returned and he was running on the Democrat ticket, at least according to the fawning media. And if you didn't vote for him, it was because you were a racist. Yeah, as if Republicans (or moderates) ever voted for a white Leftist radical.

It's also pretty clear that this film was planned and green-lighted back when politicians were still announcing they were running, and it was yet to be seen if Palin would run or not. This film, like other Leftist works (the aforementioned CBS/Mary Mapes/Dan Rather fiasco chief among them), was designed to bring down candidate or nominee Palin's presidential run. Any Leftists denying that must be delusional.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Has anyone on here who claims Palin is dumb, please list exactly what she has said or done that makes you think she is dumb.

Palin is not here to defend herself, but many of the Palin-apologists and defenders sure are either ignorant or stupid and examples are not wanting.

Take this comment for instance: "The people (Schmidt, anyway) who ran the McCain campaign are now trying to shift blame to someone else, hoping that they'll get hired to run another campaign in the future. "

Of course, this is a complete and idiotic falsehood. First of all, Schmidt (and the dozens of other Republicans who worked on McCain's campaign who were interviewed during the production of Game Change) completely took the blame onto themselves. As they should have.

But I find it interesting that YOU think there is blame that Schmidt and the others would try to slough off. Blame for what? The rational answer is blame for putting someone as grossly unqualified and unprepared as Palin on the ticket -- a decision then-Vice President Cheney called "reckless." So when you claim that Schmidt is trying to shift the blame to "others" for completely blowing it when it came to selecting Palin, you are yourself admitting that Schmidt did exactly that: Blew it. Big time.

Schmidt, Nicolle Wallace, and the others who McCain picked to work on his campaign were loyal Republicans of integrity and professionalism. Your feeble attempt to impugn their motives is, quite frankly, laughably dumb, as indicated by your desperate ploy to bring completely irrelevant topics like Dan Rather and the Soviet Union in to cloud up the issue.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Palin wrote a column that appeared in newspapers nationwide - including the New York Times - only a few weeks before her interview with Couric. Yet Couric asked her what newspapers she read? Eh? Apparently, even Katie Couric doesn't read the NYT.

Let's examine the sheer foolishness of this assertion for a moment.

Putting aside the question of whether Palin actually wrote a column, the assertion is that because Couric may or may not have seen it, she was supposed to assume that it was common knowledge to all of her viewers and so asking Palin the extremely simple question of "what kinds of things do you read?" was somehow an unimportant question.

The other false assumption here is that because a piece originating from Palin's camp made it into the New York Times, and Couric and others were supposed to assume that the Times was on Palin's regular reading list. In Game Change, the scenes within the McCain campaign when Couric asked Palin that question were funny and pathetic. Schmidt is saying, "Just name ONE paper..." When Palin fumbled out .. "All of them," the air was completely sucked out of the room.

Video of the highly-intelligent Fareed Zakaria is shown in the film, saying that the selection of Palin was unprecedented: Not only was this a candidate who didn't know the answers, but she did not even seem to understand the questions. He completely nailed it.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Those three? Read what I wrote. Palin is the the one who represents a set of traditional values that the Democrat Party is absolutely terrified of young women adopting. She is a woman with a stable marriage, she is happy, has balanced career and family and refuses the competitve victimhood mentality the left inculcates in young women.

LOL, so you picked the worst out of the three as your example of 'traditional American values'? This psychotic, gun totin', homophobic, ultra religious, right wing, breathtakingly STUPID nutcase represents the best of America?

Your blind hatred of the US is well-known here but I have to point out that "Gun-totin', homophobic, backward idiots" is usually reserved for the South, in particular the regions settled by the Scottish and Irish who the New Englanders would not allow to settle in the early NE colonies.

So what, those backward ignorant settlers have nothing to do with Ireland or Scotland today. The millions of Southerners alive in 2012 who are descended from these settlers are responsible for themselves.

But you're not prejudiced or bigoted in any way, right? You just keep telling yourself that, junior.

Stating facts about Palin doesn't make me prejudiced or bigoted.

Has anyone on here who claims Palin is dumb, please list exactly what she has said or done that makes you think she is dumb.

This woman has unwittingly revealed her gaping lack of knowledge of the world from the extraordinary amount of gaffes which flew out of her mouth... hmm, what can I think off the top of my head.

'We need to stand by our allies in NORTH Korea'

Obama mispronouncing 'corpsman' doesn't really compare, sorry.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@oginome

The millions of Southerners alive in 2012 who are descended from these settlers are responsible for themselves.

How ironic. Southerners prefer to be responsible for themselves. Especially right-wing Southerners. Or have you not spent much time in the south? Did you just watch Deliverance and think that movie was 100% true too? If Al Gore made a movie claiming that JFK was killed by man-made global warming, would you believe that as well?

This woman has unwittingly revealed her gaping lack of knowledge of the world from the extraordinary amount of gaffes which flew out of her mouth... hmm, what can I think off the top of my head.

'We need to stand by our allies in NORTH Korea'

Repeatedly? Or was that just a one-time slip?

So... got any others? At least you came up with one. Yabits couldn't even do that.

Obama mispronouncing 'corpsman' doesn't really compare, sorry.

You're right, but just like the first time, only out of irony. It doesn't compare because Obama repeatedly mispronounced corpsman. Not just multiple times in one speech, but again in another speech several months later. You would think he'd learn! But he didn't even know how to pronounce Comisky Park when claiming to be a big White Sox fan. One would think that someone living in Chicago and claiming to be a big White Sox fan would know that it's not pronounced "Cominsky". But then, you would also expect him to be able to name his favorite players, too. But he couldn't name any Sox player, past or present. Now, I'll give Obama the benefit of a doubt on this one. He might not be stupid. But that leaves only one other logical answer: He's a compulsive liar.

If you wanted to compare apples to apples, an Obama equivalent to Palin slipping up on "North Korea" would probably be when Obama said "my Muslim faith", and not catching it until being corrected by the sympathetic interviewer. No wait, maybe that one's more serious too... ;)

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@yabits

Putting aside the question of whether Palin actually wrote a column,

...because a piece originating from Palin's camp...

Seriously? You have issues.

Here's another thing: According to Leftists, Palin only gave one interview during the candidacy. Which is completely, false, of course. She gave dozens, if not hundreds. But the only one they remember is the Couric interview. Why is that? It certainly couldn't be because of Couric's ratings. She was consistently dead last. No, it's because that's the only one where Palin looks bad. In turn, why is that? Because the interview was edited. Now pretty much all interviews are edited to some degree, but this one was edited by CBS. You think the forged National Guard documents fiasco is unrelated? Oh, but it is, by three letters: CBS. A network known for decades for its Leftist slant. Couric herself is a blatant Leftist. She even used a Christmas poem to campaign for Obamacare - during a news broadcast! Again, any Leftist trying to imply that Couric and CBS set out to give Palin a fair interview is delusional.

Otherwise, how can you explain one interview portraying her in such a different light than the dozens and dozens of other interviews she's given?

In yet another example of Leftist echo chambers, Couric was awarded the Walter Cronkite Award for Journalism Excellence for that interview. Was the interview that good? No, it's just that it was a landmark exercise in partisan political thuggery. Something Cronkite was good at himself. But that's what the Left does: Congratulate each other for being Leftists. Gore, Moore and Stone win Oscars for making highly inaccurate movies (sometimes under the pretense of being documentaries) for the Left-wing agenda while conservatives are blacklisted from working in Hollywood. Carter, Arafat, Gorbachev, Annan, Gore and Obama are given Nobel peace Prizes. Leftists obsessed with hating Palin (especially if they can't explain why they hate her) fawn over this movie like they did Tina Fey's portrayals. The whole scene on the Left is incestuous. Where is the Lysol?

Video of the highly-intelligent Fareed Zakaria is shown in the film, saying that the selection of Palin was unprecedented: Not only was this a candidate who didn't know the answers, but she did not even seem to understand the questions. He completely nailed it.

Has the "highly intelligent" Zakaria ever been governor of a state? A successful one at that? Run for public office? No? Fascinating. Has Zakaria ever explained how someone who had such a successful track record could suddenly not know any answers, much less not be able to understand questions? Can you?

Finally, did you read this review?

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Hollywood/2012/03/09/top-10-lies-game-change

Or will you refuse to because of the source?

Oh well, at least you didn't try to deny that this latest film wasn't designed to bring down a potential 2012 Palin run. Perhaps there's hope for you yet? ;)

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

How is it ironic? I never stated Southerners didn't like to be responsible for themselves, just that pointing out that rednecks being descended from Irish and Scottish has nothing to do with Ireland or Scotland today. The Southerners can keep being responsible for themselves all they like, doesn't change the fact that their region is the most backward, racist region in what is already a conservative country. Never seen Deliverance and no, wouldn't believe Al Gore's hypothetical movie, considering he'd have no evidence to 'prove' his point, unlike the Palin case, where her stupidity and shocking ignorance is there fore everyone to see.

Repeatedly? Or was that just a one-time slip?

So... got any others? At least you came up with one. Yabits couldn't even do that.

There are PLENTY more, go find them yourself.

Here's just one page I found

http://www.ranker.com/list/13-social-studies-facts-sarah-palin-got-wrong/kel-varnsen

Happy hunting online - you'll find lots of evidence to back up a portrait of sad soul detached from reality.

He might not be stupid. But that leaves only one other logical answer: He's a compulsive liar.

Repeatedly mispronouncing a word still doesn't compare to Palin and her nutty outbursts. I have a friend who always misprounces the word 'epitome' as 'ep-ee-tome', he's not stupid, and knows what the word means, people just get stuck into habits sometimes, too bad Palin's habit was one of disgusting ignorance and unhinged psychosis.

If you wanted to compare apples to apples, an Obama equivalent to Palin slipping up on "North Korea" would probably be when Obama said "my Muslim faith", and not catching it until being corrected by the sympathetic interviewer. No wait, maybe that one's more serious too... ;)

What's wrong with being a Muslim? If it's OK for the likes of Palin and millions of other conversatives to proudly brandish their own fairy tale religion, then Obama is also entitled to believe in Allah or whatever else he wants.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Palin wrote a column that appeared in newspapers nationwide - including the New York Times - only a few weeks before her interview with Couric. Yet Couric asked her what newspapers she read? Eh? Apparently, even Katie Couric doesn't read the NYT.

An honest person making such a claim would cite the title of the piece written by Palin and the date that the New York Times published it. Dishonest and unintelligent people omit that stuff. (Point of fact: The only article attributed to Sarah Palin that appeared in the New York Times in the election year of 2008 was an op-ed piece on polar bears on January 5 -- long before she was selected by McCain.)

OldHawk apparently believes that a softball question like "What do you read?" should never be asked of a candidate. Point of fact: Couric's question of Palin reads as follows: "And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world?"

The question is especially fair and responsible because, with less than two years as the executive of Alaska (after being mayor of a small town), and a complete unknown to most Americans, the people have a right to know how a person a heartbeat away from the presidency forms their world views.

The people (Schmidt, anyway) who ran the McCain campaign are now trying to shift blame to someone else, hoping that they'll get hired to run another campaign in the future.

Readers will note how OldHawk attempts to shift the attention away from this remark by bringing up totally irrelevant topics like Christmas poems, the Soviet Union, and Comisky Park. This is the typical Palin-defender. The question must be asked once again: What kind of "blame" were the Republicans running McCain's campaign trying to shift to someone else? (Especially, since Schmidt, Wallace and the others publicly admit they were terribly wrong in their role of selecting Palin?) Blame for what??

"Schmidt, Wallace and the others publicly admit they were terribly wrong in their role of selecting Palin"

That's their opinion. I and millions of other people would rather have Palin as vice president over Biden, or as president over Obama.

That's their opinion.

The people who were closest to Palin on the campaign are professionals and loyal Republicans, and formed their opinion of her independently. That makes their opinion carry more weight than the opinion of a starry-eyed devotee.

I and millions of other people would rather have Palin as vice president...

You, OldHawk, and millions of other people fall into the category that Lincoln articulated when he said: "You can fool some of the people all of the time."

Please do not insult other posters because they have different political views from your own.

I am quoting Abraham Lincoln and this goes far beyond a mere difference in political views. The Republicans who were closest to her on the campaign concluded that she was grossly unqualified. The Republican VP called her a reckless choice.

This is a matter of the kind of judgment and common sense that prevents decent Americans from being fooled too often, even though we recognize there will be some who will be fooled all the time. Picking Palin for a major office would be like selecting Wilhelm Klink to head up the FBI. The Republicans -- to the extent they are run by adults -- will not make that mistake again, at least not with Palin.

selecting Wilhelm Klink to head up the FBI.

I meant the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

I saw it last night and watched it again this morning. If anything, I came away from it feeling sorry for Palin. The whole campaign and the idea that she was fit to be VP was way above her head and she was obviously a bad pick. Steve Schmidt the campaign manager obviously didn't research Palin's background or her qualifications too carefully (which the movie depicted as being a decision made after watching a few YouTube clips of Palin's past interviews) and was really only concerned about winning the election. He did however, seem to redeem himself in the movie, and probably in real life, by realizing what a utter disaster she was.

But at the same time, it seems Palin grew very arrogant over the course of the campaign and eventually convinced herself that she was more important than McCain or even the election. I am just so glad that she has grown a bit more irrelevant in the public eye, but I am very disappointed that the national media still pays any regards to her and her nonsense rhetoric.
