Paul McCartney canceled his concert at Tokyo's National Stadium on Saturday night due to an illness.
McCartney, 71, who arrived in Japan on Thursday, wrote on his website: "I've unfortunately had to postpone tonight’s show in Tokyo. I came down with a virus on Friday and following a visit from doctors, I've been told not to perform tonight.
"I am very sorry to all my fans as I was greatly looking forward to the concert, but the situation is out of my hands. Along with the doctors, I'm doing all I can to ensure I will be better for tomorrow night's show and the rest of my time in Japan."
The concert has been rescheduled for Monday at the National Stadium. Organizers said tickets for Saturday's show are valid for Monday, but a refund will also be offered. Ticket pricess start at 13,500 yen.
McCartney is in Japan as part of his “Out There” world tour. He is scheduled to perform at the National Stadium on Sunday, at the Budokan on May 21 and at Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka on May 24.

Bit of a bummer for all of those people I saw on the news last night looking forward to seeing him.
To be honest, unless he's lip-synching they might be a little disappointed. When he sang at the London Olympics in 2012 his voice sounded weak and off key. Of course that could have been an off-day, but I've heard other stars of the past recently who sound less then perfect. I think Sir Tom Jones is one of the few from the 60s that can still put power into their voices. Cliff Richard for example sounded like the old man he is at the Queen's jubilee event in 2012.
I hope Sir Paul sounds good... but I have my doubts.

What a cold and sad thing to say! No one is forcing you to listen. You know, there IS a reason as to why McCartney is one of THE richest musicians in the world and I don't think it's because his music is bad. The man sold over 8 million albums NOT including his time with the Beatles. Not bad for someone who plays boring music.

I guess there is no accounting for taste.
Anyway, I hope it is not serious and he will recover soon.
