Ever since Piko Taro took the world by storm last summer with his viral YouTube hit “Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen“, people everywhere have been drawing comparisons between him and fellow YouTube superstar Psy, who broke records with his 2012 hit “Gangnam Style“.

The two stars do have remarkably similar styles, with memorable outfits, larger-than-life personas, catchy tunes, and easy-to-follow dance moves being their winning formula for success. If there was any speculation of rivalry between the two performers however, those rumours can be put to rest, as Piko Taro has now popped up in Psy’s new music video clip for his latest hit “I Luv It“.

Take a look at the clip below, with Piko Taro’s appearance coming in at 0:35.

Despite being on screen for a total of four seconds, the leopard-print clad Piko Taro is unmissable in his cameo appearance, as he flashes his signature grin while putting his hands together to create cute heart-shapes with all the enthusiastic cuteness of a Japanese schoolgirl.

Surrounded by four Psy’s in a pink paint-splattered room, Piko Taro hams it up and we LUV IT. We can’t think of anyone better to appear alongside lyrics that say “Who you are LUV IT, Who they are LUV IT, Even if you’re a hater I LUV IT so much.”

To add to the theme of international non-discriminatory love, Psy even indulges in a spot of calligraphy during the clip, showing us the Chinese character for the word “love”.

With dancing girls, scenic settings and big group numbers containing multipe Psy’s, this clip has all the makings of another international hit for the 39-year-old singing-dancing superstar.

As one of the title tracks from Psy’s latest album, titled 4×2=8, the music video for “I Luv It” has already racked up more than five million views since appearing on YouTube less than a day ago.

Just like the galloping, horse-riding move seen in “Gangnam Style“, this new song comes with a number of smooth steps that have us wanting to get up and dance like nobody’s watching!

While no official explanation has been given for Piko Taro’s appearance in Psy’s new music video, it’s not the first time Piko has rubbed shoulders with famous stars. Having already appeared alongside Justin Bieber and Cookie Monster and Elmo, Psy is Piko Taro’s latest celebrity crush, and given his love for unique collaborations, who knows where he’ll be popping up next.

Can two one-hit wonders add up to a third??

PSY is streets ahead of Piko Taro

When I thought the musical barometer could not get any lower, just wow.

Which world is this?

There's room for every type of music in this world. Just not in my LP collection.

Not really a fan, but Psy is actually a very talented and respected musician. His vocal range is pretty good and his live performances are very energetic. He really puts his heart and soul when he sings, and that shows he loves and have fun singing.

Some people look down on him ironically because of his greatest hit outside South Korea, but the ones who show interest in knowing more about him can see that he's way more than "the Gangnam Style guy"...

"The two stars do have remarkably similar styles"

Ummm... no, not even close. While I don't like Psy (Gangnam Style was fun, but not my type of music) very much, he actually has talent despite being a one-hit wonder. Pika-Taro has nothing but the usual "tarento"'s gimmick overdone a million times over, and which, if it becomes popular, is only due to how utterly bizarre (not necessarily in a positive way) it is.

Can't stand either one of them. But this was much easier on the ears than his first song, Gangnam Style. This one I could actually see myself humming a long to.

Piko Taro, Mr. Talentless, Talento, is just riding his shirttails. He will be shaken off soon and continue doing his nonsensical thing for many years in Japan and tell they finally realize that it was all stupid to begin with. Yawn!
