Piko Taro, Momoclo-chan Z collaborate on new music video

A music video featuring Piko Taro, the creator of the viral sensation of "PPAP," and his collaboration with Momoclo-chan Z, Momoiro Clover Z’s more kid-friendlier sister group, was released on Wednesday. The new song is titled “Vegetable” and was first uploaded onto the official YouTube account of Piko Taro.

This is the first time Piko Taro and Momoclo-chan Z have collaborated together on a song. The lyrics and song composition for “Vegetable” were written by Piko Taro, and the song arrangement by Kosaka Daimaou.

According to Piko Taro, "Clearly the next step after apple-pineapple is vegetable, right!?” and although this song is an offshoot of “PPAP”, it is a song with a similarly highly addictive and memorable looping sound especially when Momoclo-chan Z and Piko Taro both repeatedly sing the names of vegetables. Furthermore, the choreography for the song includes easy-to-follow “vegetable” hand gestures and moves intended for all to remember and to dance together like in "PPAP."

The music video was shot within two hours at a studio in Tokyo, while editing the footage by producer Daimaou took nearly two weeks,

About the collaboration with Momoclo-chan Z, Piko Taro says: “Well, they are a wonderful bunch and a group Mr Kosaka loves, so I was even more excited to make it great and silly”

The song “Vegetable” will be delivered and streamed on multiple platforms within Japan first at midnight on March 6, with subsequent plans to go global sometime mid-March.

Just when you thought they couldn't possibly get more annoying...

That is a matter of opinion..

I can tell without hitting the play button that this song is trash as his first was. I have a .... Just stop it!

Would love to know the details of Pikotaro's performance for Trump and Abe last year. SNL should jump on that. Pikotaro's Borat-esque ironically winking childish persona may be no match for Trump's full-blown unselfconscious nasty childishness though. Pikotaro always seems like he is in on the laughs and would be hard to mock; grumpy grandpa Trump is the butt of jokes but acts like he can't understand why that might be.

A gold chain, a cigar and a Yorkshire accent seem somehow missing....

lucabrasi - exactly.

It's just a collection of sounds and bright colors. Nothing sinister about it. I presume it's aimed at the Teletubbies demographic.

I haven't heard the other song "PARP". Any good?

@Toasted, not as much a song as a faddish flash in the pan brought to you buy "Youtubers." If you buy the whole album (which I salvaged from the used bin for almost nothing), you can subject yourself to various dance remix versions along with about twenty other weird short ditties. Altogether, it would appeal to fans of the novelty one hit wonder genre who can understand three word Japanese sentences and/or find humor in English onomatopoeia. Any takers?

Best comment so far!

Now don't go insinuating about Pikotaro. His alter ego is already married to a hot wife, has millions in the bank from the biggest fluke hit single in pop music history, and occasionally "works" (dancing around and singing random nonsense) wearing a leopard skin leisure suit, even at the request of leaders like Trump/Abe. Why would he give up one of the best celebrity gigs of all time by harassing Momoclo-chan? The idea of his actual measurable popularity vs. the manufactured/cloned/faked image of the knock off girl group is the key. He is the legit star and they are the lesser known support act, contrary to appearances.

Those bringing up the serious subject of sexual assault and harassment is a bit off. It's not a joke and sounds a bit libellous.

We've got a live one here folks. Insults cornier than a Pikotaro jingle. Besides soymilk, Japan also has dried soybeans for Setsubun, tofu, shouyu, miso, etc. Putting down soy products on a website called JapanToday is borderline looney. Too bad clamenza won't change his strict diet of corn.

He gets slapped in the buttocks, lol

Why is she saying "to-may-to"?

Isn't it pronunced "to-mah-to" in Japanese?
