There is so very much to talk about here.

For one, Polanki is an unrepentant pig and a drug rapist. That has been clear from the 1970s and all his work should have been boycotted from that time when he got a totally generous and undeserved plea deal yet fled the country anyway. But these new charges? What's the proof? Given the old well-proven charges anyone could stand up and claim he raped them decades ago. I chose to neither believe nor disbelieve. The new claim is hardly a basis for a boycott. The old claim has always been. Silly people.

Another point is that the Dreyfuss Affair, the subject of the new movie, is embarrassing to those overly patriotic Frenchmen who will foolishly feel like they have some responsibility for events in their country's past, and I am sure there are plenty. And they surely want this film to fail. And so it makes you wonder where this "new" 44 year old rape claim really comes from.

Anyway, it always amazes me all the things we hear about Metoo, consent, and the claim that men get away with it, but this monster Polanski is not talked about much and people still go see his films. His butt should have been dragged back to America to face the full charges of which he is surely guilty decades ago.

Back when homsxuality was taboo or looked down upon, some boycotted some pop artists back in the 80s. Personally, I try to separate the creation from the creator. I mean, if you think about it, nearly every person and every company has done something bad or questionable. We would have to boycott everything...and starve of food and entertainment.

@juminRhee Yes many have done wrong but also many have 1) made amends 2) served their time in jail 3) admitted their wrong and 4) apologized. Companies are just groups of people and many have either done the above or the group jettisoned their bad apples.

Roman Polanski, the drug raping pig, has not made amends, has not apologized, has not admitted his wrong, has not served his time and to top it all off, fled from justice and has been a fugitive for decades while living a lavish lifestyle.

I have nothing but contempt for that monster. He is the scum of the Earth.
