Popular comedian Gekidan Hitori, TV personality Osawa tie knot

Popular comedian Gekidan Hitori and TV personality Akane Osawa married Tuesday and expressed their joy. ''Today I became a couple with the man I love best in the world,'' a beaming Osawa, 23, told reporters, while a bashful Gekidan Hitori, 32, confessed he failed to exercise his wit as a comedian when proposing to her, saying, ''I simply said 'Let's get married,' even though it was a cliche.''

They registered their marriage early Tuesday morning, they said. Gekidan Hitori, a stage name which means a one-man troupe, also acts in films and has written a best-selling book. Osawa's grandfather is Keiji Osawa, an outspoken former professional baseball player who was once manager of the Nippon Ham Fighters.

First non-shotgun wedding in a while...congratulations!

yup!...but why things like dare-dare no grandaughter must be added...it seems to me this society is so status-symbol conscious...

I guess from now on it's going to be Gekidan Futari. Congratulations, and I hope they get an APPARI! from Akane's grandfather.

She has nice legs, but marriage ain't all that fun. I would never do it again.

How come the guy gets his full name in the headline but the girl doesn't? Just seems a little strange.

best wishes for them

Soldave. "Gekidan Hitori" is his official screen name. It's not his real name, and such name does not even exist in the real world, I mean, in the civil registry. Anyway, you can't separate "Gekidan" from "Hitori" and vice versa so there's nothing strange about it.

Best wishes to both!

Marriage is a very serious thing, and not that funny, my dear Comedian!

"Today I became a couple with the man I love best in the world"

no mix-ups at the chapel that day, then?

Congrats to both. I hope they have a very happy life (and long marriage) together :)

Popular comedian Gekidan Hitori

Is it me or does anyone else here not know this "popular" comedian?

I think it's yourself. Cause I weekly watch just about an hour and a half of commercial tv programming (always watch Sazaesan) and, still, his face from the pic above was almost immediately recognizable. He's that guy who, as a comical-closer, either makes his face very angry or very teary.

Now the wife-to-be, her I don't seem to have seen or heard of before.

kweto. I'm totally with you on this one! I am not quite familiar with the wife so I guess marrying Gekidan Hitori has somehow made her popular.

Comedian is possibly a littel flattering. although he is laughable.

Kweto, I stand corrected. Not knowing someone and being popular are two separate issues. That brings me back to the often used term here on JT "popular." Still don't know him and quite sure

"I think it's yourself"

I'm not the only one. Must watch more JTV, I guess.

23, married and not pregnant??? she must be so desperate.

expect a birth announcement 6 months from now.

Isn't it refreshing that she is NOT pregnant? The dekichatta weddings are getting a bit old, and usually end up in divorce. Hopefully they will have a long and happy life together.

Gekidan Hitori is popular by every definition of "popular" in Japanese soil. Those who don't know him are probably just watching the News with English dubbing, then turn off the TV or switch the TV channel to foreign channels (cable tv). Only those who are regular TV watchers have the right to question whether one person is popular or not. If a celebrity is not in your "radar", it does not automatically qualify you to question his/her popularity.

I'm qualified to say you saitamkid, watch too much TV. That makes you a popular TV watcher.
