Sounds like a good movie. Some Chinese films really hit the spot.

“Why is it that the films that win awards are always ones that I've never seen publicised?” wrote one microblogger, in a typical comment.

Because you live in a crappy country with an even crappier government.

Because you live in a crappy country with an even crappier government.

And we all know your government has had a wonderful record when it comes to treatment of the native people and baby seals!

by the way the female lead is played by a TAIWANESE actress, not Chinese but TAIWANESE, born in Taiwan and carring a Taiwanese passport, and not a CHINESE national at all. Maybe that is why the commies refuse to show it?

The little I've heard so far makes it sound like a film worth watching, A Japanese woman told me of a Chinese film once, called "The Battle of Red Cliff", one of the best films I have ever watched. So politics aside, lets watch this one for what it is.

@DannyBloom: That's not the case at all. There must be a lack of information where you are about the entertaiment scene in China. Taiwanese entertainers have been all over the map in China for the last 20 years. Taiwan/China movie/TV co-productions are common in China. Even marriages between Chinese/Taiwanese and Chinese/HK entertainers are no big deal there.

akk1 I see Danny just making the fact that It was a Taiwanese actress that was not stated in the article.... Which that should be brought forth as to not belittle the people of Taiwan, which many Chinese love to do based on the ignorance instilled in China's society!

It's great to see Taiwanese and Chinese getting along. Stability in Asia won't give USA any more excuses to hang around in Asia.

For your information, Chinese tourists have been visiting Taiwan for quite some time, and vice versa. You must be fuming!

This isn't anything new. I've watched great independent Chinese films since the 80's and 90's and most of them were never shown in China either. This is why it's known as a repressive nation. It's only now with Internet that the titles are even known

Pukey you are not station anything we all don't know.lol. by the point is TAIWANESE vs. CHINESE,, in the article.. GET IT! Its pretty simple. I know you are from China and have the dream that Taian's identity issue be of none, sorry to say the large majority of Taiwan's population refer to themselves as TAIWANESE. Sorry, but true, like it or not. If you want to bring up differences each society and the differences, that is another story hearing what Taiwanese have to say about the Chinese mannerisms... Lol

Just read that the grandfather of the Taiwan actress was a former KMT general who fled the mainland in 49. So they are not really 'Taiwanese' (Ami, Puyo, Alitai, etc) in the native sense.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't come from China. You know what? Even I refer to people who come from Taiwan as....wait for it....Taiwanese! Boo! The thing is, there are certain people (who, a lot of the times, have nothing to do China or Taiwan or even East Asia) who would love to see East Asians hate each other. As I said, this gives an excuse for USA to meddle in other people's business. No other country has soldiers stationed at every corner of the globe.

Pukey you are not station anything we all don't know.lol

And I don't know what you're stationing!
