Fun times though. Upside down in the Fitzsimmons, Bell, Lion and Anchor more times than I can remember. Work hard, play hard!

Not a fan of Royals but I admire that the men in the British Royal Family have a tradition of military service. Their standard of living and income is primarily from taxpayers so doing military service seems appropriate. It's nice to see society elites willing to sacrifice their lives in service to their country. More so considering that the vast majority of the military in most countries are low income youth. The wealthy and privileged more often than not push for wars politically but rarely actually fight wars or ask or expect their children to do so.

The Royal Air Force Search and Rescue Force (SARF or SAR Force) which William was a pilot was disbanded by the government in 2016. The rescue service is now run by private contractors.

Royal Navy SAR too... great shame.

Still have my 771 squadron overalls from 27 years ago; use them in Japan working in my shed at the bottom of the garden.

He might find it tricky to be growing his hair long anytime soon

Both William and Harry served in the military, only Harry experienced combat.

He poison the relationship with Harry, he was jealous of all the attention Harry and Meghan were getting, Harry confronted his mental issues, not having a fake upper stiff lip

“The prince said that he listens to the band's driving 1990 anthem "Thunderstruck" to ease himself into the working week.”

To ‘ease’ into the working week?

Crikey, that’s the sort of song you want to belt out on a Friday arvo when you knock off work Wills! lol

All being said - that table tennis paddle should be re-surfaced - pretty nasty to play with it like this :) .

He supports Aston Villa and likes late-period AC/DC and Tina Turner? Yet more reasons to be a Republican.

William seems desperate to relate to the people!

My mistake. The Air and Sea Rescue is part of the RAF and William was stationed at RAF Valley in Anglesey, Wales has a helicopter pilot. A non-combative role because he is an heir to the throne.

Not all time in the military is considered equal. For example in the US, most rich families with military traditions tend to convince their children if they serve at all to join the Air Force. They are less likely to be on the front lines and with so many non combative roles, they are more likely to survive any war time activities. Even the other branches make fun of them for that. I have not heard much about space force, but until we encounter alien life, they are just glorified Air Force extension.

Not sure what people’s obsession is with their military service is! William is next next in line to be king of the commonwealth. No small position, even haters should get that. Of all the things he could have done being a rescue pilot is commendable, He actively swooped in at a time of subjects perils and tried to save them. That’s a king. I’ve Lived long enough to have never met a rescue pilot, they are such a small band of skilled pilots. Harry was a forward air observer, boots on ground, (don’t know what that is? Search it.) His cover was blown by Australian media. He then became an Apache attack helicopter pilot. After that started the invictious games for disabled war veterans. I’d like to know of any global royals that have gone so far out of their way to place themselves in danger. I don’t support the monarchy, I just realise these men are doing what they can in the constraints they are bound to.

Thanks for the ‘clarification’ @zichi 11:46pm. - And Andrew, flew missions during the Falklands War, making him a ‘combat veteran’. Andrew reached the rank of ‘commander’ in 2001, and was later given an ‘honorary’ rank of ‘vice-admiral’ in 2015. - Despite his ‘honorable military service’, his later, public image is tarnished for his utterly-stupid affiliation with Epstein and the pending allegations.

He did 7.5 years of military service.

Not according to zilch.

Earlier @zichi 10:21am you had points & questions for @Attilathrehungry 9:16am about what constitutes a ‘veteran’, those with military service (William) and, what constitutes being a ‘combat veteran in a war zone’ (like Harry, 2 tours, Afghanistan). It would have been an interesting ‘on topic’ thread but apparently, some don’t have it in them to keep up and just want to quit. Perhaps they’re just more suited to serve their countries ‘behind a keyboard’ and to make comments like “lol bye”. No respect for the men who chose to serve to protect their freedoms, … however long we mass still may have them.

*- @zichi 10:21am: “He also spoke about a rescue of a small child the age of his son George who had died and how much that affected him. Search and Rescue pilot. He never did military service unlike his brother Harry.” -*
