That's the problem. Slavery has gone on since before human history was recorded and is still going on. Slavery in America was but a drop in the bucket to the amount of people forced into slavery over the centuries.
Yet when people think of "Slavery" they think it's something that ONLY happened in America, and ONLY happened to AMERICAN BLACKS.

Slavery is still going on in many countries right now. If this movie wakes people up a little then I have no problem with it.

Lenny Bruce once said it :
"All my humor is based upon destruction and despair. If the whole world were tranquil, without disease and violence, I'd be standing on the breadline right in back of J. Edgar Hoover."

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I really enjoyed Inglourious Basterds, thought it was a big step up for him, especially the opening dialogue.

Hahahaha, talking 'bout Tarantino or AKB, though both are overrated!
But his movies still fun to watch.

He makes enjoyable B-movies, which are better than most recent B-movies, not all his movies are great, but the crap that is comming out of Hollywood recently, his movies are still entertaining, Like Miike Takahashi, he has some jewels and sometimes you go like eeeeh?
Scooter Ivy
I usually like his "Quentin Tarantino Presents" movies better than his own. Whether he makes good movies or not, he has good taste.
Molenir
Agree completely with this sentiment.

He is hugely overrated. Just makes B movies with big names and production values. And always gives it this big philosophical angle. Agree, his vision is about making money, not about anything original or with a message.

Exactly, totally overrated, in fact it annoys when some people compare hist stuff with quality cinema...just cause it is directed like a b grade, doesnt make it intellectual
Alex Einz
Dont really get what people see in him, he made one good movie and played on it as much as possible, specially in Japan... and not it wasnt Kill Bill
Liam Kin
tarantino movies suck
WilliB
Yeah. However, people don´t claim that slavery is art, charge money to watch it, and expect to invited to fancy Hollywood gahterings for that. Sheesh, what a dimwit.

Just another example of the sad dependency of Hollywierd on overblown violence and the cult of ego fame. I would much rather see good Kabuki.
