Quincy may be too old to be 'full of it' but he ain't too old to tell tall tales. First of all, as for his criticism of the Beatles, he's started out as a jazzman first and not into rock. He's older than rock'n'roll so leave it at that. He's right about what he said about 'Thriller', NO other album has even come close to surpassing it for many reasons and what the RIAA is saying lately IS BS.
Quincy is generally best known as a composer and a producer. Not all the stuff released under his name is great - the 1989 'Back On the Block' is kind of weak, but when it comes to producing albums (and he's done a lot of that for various people) Quincy is one of the best there is, ever. His thumbprint does good on many people's work - just like other good producers like Jeff Lynne and Chris Thomas - and he's always better than the bloated pompous Jim Steinman who ruins everything.
