How can you possibly use the words rapper and music in the same sentence?

But why not? Could you explain why rap should not be considered music?

How can you possibly use the words rapper and music in the same sentence?

Because it’s music.

Just posting to ask if anyone here has ever heard of this guy, apart from the rap fan above who probably equates rap with music.

I don’t like Drake’s music. It just doesn’t hit me. But like anyone who doesn’t live in an old man bubble, I know who he is.

Everyone needs to take a break at sometime.

Rapper Drake

Who?

Literally one of the most famous rappers on the entire planet. Maybe if you came out of your old man bubble you wouldn’t look entirely out of touch.

I'm 68 year's old. I know who Drake is, but I'm Canadian and so is Drake. Do I like rap? Some of it I do. But like all music, I don't like all rock, country, folk, blue's pop etc.

Rap is all over the world

You go to Africa, they rap. You go to the Arab world, they rap. You go to South America, they rap. You go to Russia, they rap

It's the easiest music to export since all it needs are lyrics and a beat

Because it's usually someone speaking foul-mouthed bollox

With this statement in mind, you should love it.

Because it's usually someone speaking foul-mouthed bollox over something resembling a tune.

There is foul-mouthed bollocks out there, but the genre is much more diverse than that, and the delivery is a bit more than just speaking. If it's not your cup of tea, that's fair enough. I don't listen to it as much as I do other genres, but I would still say it's music.

If it's got a tune, it's music. There is nothing about being "foul-mouthed" that excludes something from being music. And even you have clarified that this is your own personal opinion:

IMO it's rapcrap but each to his own.

For example, I would rather pull half the hairs on my body one-by-one rather than sitting through a country music concert, but I'm not enough of an idiot to claim that it's not music.

I have heard of Drake, but never listened to his songs, rap music is not my thing. I have tho, heard one or two rap songs by Blackpink, but did not understand the words. I was brought up listening to only classical music, daily, all the time, and that is my first love. I know nothing about modern western music, pop music, or what ever and I know I should broaden my horizons, and I have done sort of, my two favourite bands are Japanese female hard rock bands, Bandmaid and Lovebites. I just love watching them on stage.
