Gonna be an interesting election.

This is why it is critical that Trump go on trial for his alleged crimes. No man is suppose to be above the law. Ramaswamy a billionaire thinks he is above the law, let us hope that we show them that they are not above the law because they are wealthy or connected.
US congressman George Santos, who ran for office on an embellished biography, has been charged with a wide range of felonies including fraud. A non-existent real estate portfolio, fraudulent claims of college degrees and confusion over whether he's Jewish - or merely "Jew-ish" - are just some of the controversies the New York Republican faced before he was even sworn in to office. He even reportedly claimed to donors that he helped produce the infamous Spider-Man musical on Broadway - he didn't.

Vivek Ramaswamy has some wrong ideas. He's un-electable. I suppose he's doing this hoping for some sort of cabinet post, should the Republican who actually runs win (doubtful). It won't be Trump, who will be in jail still.
Vivek is probably a nice person and may be fun to be around, but I elect Presidents for policy, not who's nice. a) he wants to raise the voting age to 25, unless you pass the same citizenship test and are over 18 as naturalized citizens pass. That means altering the US Constitution which requires 2/3 of the state legislatures to agree. While we are at it, take care of the foolish born-on-US soil and 2nd amendment, right? Unacceptable.
He's acting like it is the USA's choice to let Putin keep the parts of Ukraine he already holds. That's just crazy. Ukraine gets to decide when this is over, not the USA. Unacceptable.
He would sunset support for Israel too. Unacceptable.
He is wasting time on some 9/11 conspiracy junk. Unacceptable. We need to be done with liars.
The only real candidate who scares me more than Vivek is Pence. I don't want any super-religious people as representatives. Heck if they are willing to believe those lies, just how gullible are they? I demand more from a President.
He would renege on the Taiwan defense pack and let China take Taiwan with any US involvement. Unacceptable.
He has said he wanted to reduce the federal workforce by 75%. I know where he pulled that number, from a very dark place. Let's start with 1% and slowly keep going, consolidating responsibilities where it makes sense. Pulling a number that is clearly insufficient to do the job is stupid.
Republicans need someone reasonable to run, who isn't a liar and isn't on the extreme edge of crazy. I haven't seen any possible candidates that meet those 2 criteria yet.

Vivek will never be able to capture Trump’s support base so I suppose he is aiming to be Trump’s running mate.
Seems like a wannabe and he is trying to be 'more Trump than Trump' which will eventually rub Trump off the wrong way.
What he has going for him is he genuinely likes Trump (just like I do).
funkymofo
Reallysmarmy seems like the perfect guy to walk the GOP into losing in ‘24 with Trump. Clueless on policy, just like him
JboneInTheZone
I voted for Biden in 2020, even going so far as to call myself a “Bidenbro”, but I really don’t think he’s doing a good job. I think I’m going to vote Repub this year

Trump with intelligence minus all the baggage. Perfect nightmare for the liberals.
Will soon see more such nicknames.

Leftists angry at those on the Right.
Yep, nothing has changed in the United States.

It is deeply regrettable that tech bros are such total idiots.

Ya think?

I love it. Remember, it’s only racist to belittle an ethnic name if they’re guilty of wrong think and dare to escape the “brown people need to all think like this” leftist plantation.
For being such an “idiot”, every single left winger knows he would slaughter sleepy joe in any kind of debate in any setting on any topic. But no, he’s the idiot. The old man who needs the Easter Bunny to point the way to go and compares the horrific burning deaths of hundreds of children in a US state to that one time he almost had a kitchen fire that could have cost him his Corvette….that man is Rain Man.

The growing majority of conservatives don't want a career politician that sentiment grows with each attack on the former President, The hysteria of a populist candidate just completely freaks the left and a few on the right and that's a good, the politicians seem to have forgotten who elected them to office, but they seem like that they are doing the nation a favor and deciding for us as to how we should vote or whom we should elect, and that's not their right or decision to make. I think Vivek is very good and he's not perfect, but he can learn, they all can, but the allure, his unpolished and non-political skills something more people are yearning for. The politicians had their chance and for over 70 years most have been nothing but disappointments. He's not perfect and the average American can relate to that. The days of the career politician are slowly coming to an end and that's a good thing.

In 2015, Ramaswamy raised $360 million to market a drug for Alzheimer's disease. He said his company would "be the highest return on investment endeavor ever taken up in the pharmaceutical industry." Before new clinical trials began, he engineered an IPO and the company's market value soared to $3 billion, although at the time it only had eight employees, including Ramaswamy's brother and mother.
Ramaswamy took a massive payout after selling a portion of his sharesand claimed more than $37 million in capital gains, and touted the drug as a "tremendous" opportunity that "could help millions" of patients.
In September 2017, the company announced that the drug intepirdine had failed and company's value plunged losing 75% in one day.
Shareholders who lost money included various institutional investors, such as the California State Teachers' Retirement System pension fund. Ramaswamy was insulated from much of Axovant's losses because he held his stake through Roivant. In 2018, Ramaswamy said he had no regrets about how the company handled the drug. In subsequent years, he said he regretted the outcome but was annoyed by criticism of the company. Axovant attempted to reinvent itself as a gene therapy company, but dissolved in 2023.

Keep them coming. Call center scammer too.
Next the liberals will be questioning whether he is an American at all. The liberal version of the birther conspiracy.
After that they will call him a white supremacist. Looks like white supremacists are in short supply so they have outsourced those jobs to you know whom.

I could perhaps begin to understand your yearning for an unpolished outsider if you were advocating for some kind of blue collar Joe The Plumber type but you are delusional if you think a Harvard-graduate billionaire represents or even has any basic understanding of the needs of the working class or middle class American.
Ramaswamy was the President of the Harvard Political Union, schooled in debating, networking, lobbying and campaigning. He is the Elite. He is the swamp.
commanteer
I laugh every time an American says this. And for added irony, the same person may think that Christians are gullible because they believe the Bible.

Get ready for the thinly veiled, seething racism of the left to come out in force in the coming days, weeks, months.

Vivek Ramaswamy WHO??? Not a chance!!!!
bass4funk
And your point??

Maybe not this cycle, but with his popularity rising, you never know, but him not being part of the political establishment is getting him a lot of buzz and interests for sure.

While I agree with you on the points on Vivek, this part shows you are out of touch with reality. Ukraine is for the US and Russia to decide. China is the middleman to persuade one or the other.
The same with Taiwan. It had nothing to do with the will of the people but only what China and the US want to do in regards to Taiwan. If the US has the chips secured, the US would not be so concerned. On this Vivek is completely right on target.
quercetum
His family background is not elite. He knows both and can be the bridge. A slightly different version of JD Vance, Appalachian roots, Ohio middle class and Yale Law School. That said, no way he gets elected.

What nonsense...
Ukraine is perfectly capable of fighting on without the US, particularly if it gets into trench warfare and Europe supports them.
That's why the US stationed troops on Taiwan from 1954 to 1979, huh? Because of those semiconductors?

Oh and China forgot to clarify what their peace proposal meant and continued stonewalling US officials. I guess that was an example of throwing something at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Fighto!
Hard to understand why many aspiring US politicians seem to always use songs for their campaigns without clearing it with the record company first.
Eminem previously endorsed the Biden campaigns use of Lose Yourself. Bizarre that Vivek Ramaswamy now wants to use it.
garypen
I never understood that choice. It's basically admitting he's not what people want.

His stunningly wrong ideas clearly demonstrate that he is not a nice person nor someone that would be fun to be around.

Vivek will say anything the base wants to hear because that is how Trump and Santos conned Republicans into office. The current base are against intellectualism, so they do not use logic to make decisions! The only thing hurting him with Republicans is his skin color and foreign sounding name!

Ramaswamy is most definitely "elite", for lack of a better word. Perhaps, upper-middle class might be a better term. His parents both graduated from prestigious universities in India. HIs father was an engineer and attorney for GE, and his mother a psychiatrist.
He attended a private high school before attending Harvard, then Yale Law. In between Harvard and Yale, he worked at hedge funds.
He's no working class hero. He's probably never held a tool, changed a tire, or had a normal job in his life.
