Studios really need to start thinking about how they can profitably release first-run movies digitally so people can watch it in their homes. It will anger the major movie chains, but there may not be any other choice.

This is already happening in a big way!

You're right, and I probably should have been more specific. Yes, there was the new Trolls movie, or certain films that have been bought up by the regular streaming platforms, but in particular big-budget blockbusters intended for wide release need to adjust to the new reality of a huge number of potential moviegoers who no longer want to go to theaters.

If tentpole movies like Tenet, or the new Top Gun or Bond, are released digitally to home viewers, then we'll know that studios are taking it seriously.

Er, these films are made to be seen on a big screen.

some movies are supposed to be seen in a movie theater... the experience of watching a movie at home and watching that same movie in the cinema can be completely different. especially when we,re talking about Christopher Nolan... some of his movies you can maybe ( maybe! ) watch at home and still find it a great experience ( for example his first few movies and The Prestige ). BUT imagine watching The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar and Dunkirk at home...now imagine watching those movies on the big screen. not the same huh. and this movie Tenet is one of those movies.
