Not going to see it. I hope the studio bitterly regrets the decision to make it.

I remember in Beverly Hill Cop ,the first movie,he told the villain that he heard he had Herpes Simplex 6,and his friend got killed stealing some bearer bond from a warehouse

Smith should have done the honorable thing and just disappeared!

Game over when they start believing their own BS!

I nominate Will Smith for an Oscar for Bad Boys Ride or Die.

Again with the same kind of basic entertainment pathetic action film??...

Absolutely NO thanks..

Will probably watch it on streaming, I like really Martin as Marcus tho.

If Will doesn’t get th Oscar for this masterpeice it’s a slap in the face.

You sound bitter here. It’s just a film you won’t watch.

There is often a lot of whining about ‘wokeism’ or lack of originality on these threads.

Anyone got anything a little more constructive like what films they regard as worth watching instead? I’m not a big film watcher but I do watch some. I value the input of those with more discerning tastes than myself in this area. It goes without saying that I don’t generally value criticism of a film from people who haven’t watched the actual film.

So what’s good?

People make lot's of suggestions on interesting films on many threads...yet don't recall you posting much on them.

The vast majority of remakes and reboots are poor especially lately. It's not surprising and appropriate that many have low expectations even before seeing it.

What makes you the moral authority of people's opinions.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die. A movie nobody asked for or wanted but one that Wil Smith desperately needed. Two directors doesn't usually equal a good film. I think I watched the first one and stopped after that.

Eh?

I was asking for opinions from people who watch more films than myself.

Any suggestions?

I often post on film festivals and film related threads. Next time. Comment. This thread is on this film.

What's your opinion on this film. I mean this what most do whether negative or positive. What are you doing?

Is that what you were doing? Seriously?

I'd suggest he was actually following the old parable "give a man enough rope, and he'll hang himself".

In a very skilled manner of course.

I read quite a bit about what films are crap - they are often called ‘woke’ or unoriginal, derivative etc. This sometimes comes from people who say they haven’t seen it.

Maybe it’s how I’m wired but my next question is what films aren’t crap. Same for music. This music is crap. Okay, so what music isn’t crap? You could ask why you think it’s crap but I find that less constructive than asking what isn’t crap.

I don’t think it’s a strange way of looking at it.

I watched a Fast and Furious film. In my opinion it was crap. Doesn’t mean all of these films are crap - I can’t comment on that. I thought the Elvis film wasn’t crap.

Any recent films you don’t think are crap?

There are plenty and I've said so in the appropriate threads if they are mentioned or listed. Yet I don't recall you commenting on those threads. So when people do as you want them to, you don't comment but you only comment when someone has a negative opinion because you think they think it's woke, unoriginal, or derivative. Sounds like you have an agenda especially when it comes to woke.

You claimed that all you did was ask for opinions on films but you're berating people for having an opinion on a film. Not a very honest answer. You also claimed that you just asked for their opinion but doesn't that also include negative opinions?

I just find positive opinions more constructive.

If I ask what car is good, ‘that one’ is more constructive than ‘not that one’ although the latter has some value.

Anyway, let’s leave it that. We see it differently. Thanks for the chat.

Anyone got any good non-woke, original and non-derivative movies they’ve seen recently?

And that's fine but nobody should be berated for having a negative opinion. It's still their opinion. When people say something 'sucks' I might simply ask them why? Give me reasons. It's really the same as asking why they love something.

That was Eddie Murphy

If I'm paying I most probably won't watch it because I don't really watch comedies nowadays, I'd rather spend the money on something else.

But there's a non zero chance I'll watch because entertainers for me don't have to be paragons of morality.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

So what do you virtous people watch?

Wasn't Will Smith in a movie with Diddy? Too soon?

I'm genuinely interested

Desperate measures by desperate people whose stars have long faded out.

We all know about Will's 'slappy' stunt but Martin himself got banned for life from SNL. He hosted an episode and told the grossest unfunniest uncouth and sickeningly X-rated 'jokes' that night. You can look that one up on YouTube. And the way his 90's TV show ended also pretty much scotched things for him too. And now he's back on the stand-up circuit, coming to my hometown this fall to an arena that has only select seats available; so it can't be a full house. Ticket prices start at 'only' $49.95. Awww, shucks!

As for music, the Ramones protested against corporate rock radio and other crap long ago. And now in my city 'alt/indy' rock radio has died this year and my city is back to the Stone Age. It's 10th generation LZ, 10th generation EJ, overproduced, junk, pop tarts, autotune and milquetoast. You have to go to the net to find good music today but it's out there. You just have to search harder because radio is worthless and not mature enough to play it.

Just earlier this month I went to a sold out show by the pioneering German band Kraftwerk, and it was totally WOW to say the least! Also, I just got a copy of the new Lenny Kravitz CD the other day and it is a total slammer on every track. This Covid lockdown/rockdown did him some good. He took full advantage of the situation to create his best CD since 'Mama Said' from 1991, if not his best EVER. And it shows. Take a look around on the net, bandcamp is a good place to search. You'll find something you'll like. But destroy that radio!

He doesn't need to - I pointed it out.

But, Strangerland, you are both contradicting Jimizo and putting words in his mouth while claiming to speak for him. What’s the story?
