He is absolutely correct. It's quite surprising how filth like Trump appeals to certain people. Perhaps because they only knew bullying.

Here we go, another washed-up Hollywood dork mistaking his own irrelevant opinions for something the world actually cares about. Yep, looks like there are still celebrities out there convinced the world is holding its breath for their deeply profound political takes.

NEWSFLASH for you, Hollywood: no one is listening, and no one cares.

Maybe instead of lecturing Americans about politics trying to stay relevant with tired leftist talking points, Gere should focus on actually doing something useful - like continuing his work to FREE TIBET... assuming he even remembers that was his cause... or did that go out of style along with his career?

Richard Gere calls Trump 'bully' and 'thug'

Hard to argue with this one, seeing as this is exactly why his fans love him.

Exactly. A bunch of weirdos that are anti-inflation, anti-illegal immigration, anti-high crime and anti-war.

A bunch of weirdos that are anti-inflation,

Price of eggs through the roof, absolutely nothing done to combat inflation.

anti-illegal immigration,

Let's be honest: anti-immigration in general.

anti-high crime

With a felon for president? Hardly.

and anti-war.

Except on Greeland, Panama and Canada? And Iran, of course.

Tariffs don't lower inflation, immigration could have been done with a single bipartisan bill, anti-high crime is joke, and only anti-war because he doesn't want the responsibility.

Richard Gere is just another out-of-touch celebrity who cannot read the room.

-2 ( +13 / -15 )

At least he actually moved out of the USA I will give him that.

“the price of eggs”. lol

At least he actually moved out of the USA I will give him that

Lots of people do.

Many reasons for it. Some patriotic types say patriotic Americans wouldn’t dream of voluntarily living anywhere else.

Maybe he’s not the patriotic type.

At least he actually moved out of the USA I will give him that.

Can you blame him? I bet that there are millions of Americans who would do the same if they had the means.

*NEWSFLASH for you, Hollywood:** no one is listening, and no one cares.*

Er, Hollywood is one of the biggest cultural exports the USA has. Whether you like what they produce or not, and for the most part I don't care for their schlocky, naive, morality plays, the very name "Hollywood" is practically a byword for "the movie industry".

Just because the movie industry tends to lean liberal (seen Kevin Sorbo or Chachi in anything recently? ROFL) doesn't mean that you get to decide that it's irrelevant.

Alright dude, by your standard, junk mail and reality TV are also cultural treasures I suppose? Sure, Hollywood is a noteable export, but so is fast food, and nobody's pretending a McDonald’s franchise in every country makes it the pinnacle of human achievement.

Sorry, Hollywood's "cultural influence" mostly involves churning out reboots, shoving political lectures into every script, and wondering why their audience is shrinking massively.

Kevin Sorbo

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys was the pinnacle of television and did more for entertainment than any w-o-k-e celebrity whining on Twitter or at an awards ceremony in Spain ever will. At least Sorbo actually played a hero instead of just pretending to be one in real life for clout.

If you managed to type that with a straight face, I'll nominate you for an Oscar.

Ah, I see - TG must be Xena: Warrior Princess fan. Still bitter that Herc didn't have enough leather-clad Amazon battles for your taste? Go ahead and nominate me for that Oscar, but given Hollywood’s standards these days, I'd probably lose to a three-hour snooze-fest about a non-binary barista finding themselves!

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys was the pinnacle of television

Are you talking about the show where the main actor actually screamed a character direction from the script out loud? And they kept it in the final cut?

This?

I don't care Richard. I just saw President Trump and the First Lady receive a standing ovation at the Superbowl while Taylor Swift was mercilessly booed. Total culture shift.

4 ( +12 / -8 )

Gere's view aligns nicely with that of Trump's own psychologist niece's view that Trump is a narcissistic psychopath. Both are spot on!

tamanegi -

I'd suggest the main reasons for the booing were simply she's a Chiefs fan with a champion Chiefs player boyfriend and in fact the Chiefs team was booed by the pretty raucous heavily Green crowd.

And the same crowd probably cheered for Trump as he was a guest of honour in the Greens leaning Benson box and he saluted like a kind of military guy.

And Richard Gere has every right to express his opinions publicly about his beliefs. His comments re dark marriage of power and money were right on target.

It's always existed - but now the colossal amount of money/influence in directing ordinary people's lives has created a swamp of unfathomable depth.

Unless people - like Gere and others with a voice - express alternative views (not alt. facts), then the drownings in the muddied waters will increase.

Richard Gere is an actor, almost everything he says was written by someone else. I recently saw a photo of Richard with his wife, he appeared old and struggling. What his opinions seem to be are not really relevant.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Richard Gere called President Donald Trump a "bully" and a "thug" on Saturday during an awards ceremony in Spain, and said the United States was in a "very dark place".

And he is tooootally right..

Last year, Gere and his Spanish wife, the publicist Alejandra Silva, 41, moved to Madrid with their two sons.

Good for him was able to scape from that country..

Exactly. Poor old Richard is living in the past.

This is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. I’ll be chuckling about this for years to come. Thank you, truly.

At least Sorbo actually played a hero instead of just pretending to be one in real life for clout.

He was an actor playing Hercules. He was quite literally pretending to be a hero.

American actor Richard Gere called President Donald Trump a "bully" and a "thug" on Saturday during an awards ceremony in Spain, and said the United States was in a "very dark place".

An accurate assessment from a famous and respected American actor.
