Toasted HereticNov. 1 02:47 pm JSTAnd during the spring of 1981 the mostly-Beatles medley hit 'Stars On 45' topped the charts all over the world....

I'd forgotten about that. That was another burst of 60s nostalgia, a decade which at the time, to me, was far, far away. Now we're nearly 40 years away from '81. Wow. Fab, etc.

Do you remember George's "When We Was Fab" track from '87. Very Beatles sounding. I suppose it helps that Ringo plays on that, as well. Although I'd be more a fan of Harrison's earlier solo output.

The 'Fab' hit is on George's 1987 'Cloud 9' CD which was produced by George and Beatlemaniac Jeff Lynne. That in itself led to the Travelling Wilburys band that suddenly appeared in late 1988.

Fast forward to now. I saw due to 'business things' is now referred to as 'Jeff Lynne's ELO' live in concert this past July and the show was far better than it could've been back when I was a teenager. The opening act was Dhani Harrison, son of the Beatle George. He performed his own music, nothing else but the musical genius of his Fab dad has rubbed off on him quite well. George was smiling that night.

The Fab legacy continues. It goes on and on and on.

Still don't know how I feel about "Free as a Bird". There was a lot of excitement when it was released back in the 90s but I don't think it was right to call it a Beatles song. It was a Lennon song that was later mixed and re-jigged to include the remaining band members. I think it should have been independent of the Anthology album, personally.

'All Those Years Ago' was a #2 hit for George Harrison during the spring of 1981. It featured George singing and playing guitar, Paul on bass, Ringo on drums. The lyrics were a tribute to the recently murdered John and the video showed scenes from the Beatles archives. This was not the first time the Beatles 'came together' after their 1970 disbandment by various groupings. Then the Beatles Anthology was released in 1995, that was being worked on by all of them (and Yoko after 1980) all along.

John Lennon is in my humble opinion is the most inspirational remnant of Beatle vestige . For this reason. Alone.......

In Lennon's own words I have just have to let go.

Fine, but is it needed? I think I'll put on Abbey Road, instead.
