A lyric genius. Your words have been with me for more than half a century.
A great loss.
Rest in peace, Robert Hunter.

I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel
Can't win for trying
Dust off those rusty strings just
one more time
Gonna make em shine....
Sad to see Hunter go. Growing up in the SF area I saw more Dead shows than I can remember. I saw Hunter and Garcia at the Warfield and David Grisman showed as well.
Mr. Hunter, may the four winds blow you safely home.....and may you Rest In Peace

There greatest show ever was at Watkins Glen. I was there for the fun.

One of rock's greatest lyricists is now gone. He is a true legend.
We still have Dylan, and there's Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters, Peter Gabriel, a few others. Neil Peart was a great lyricist like Hunter but he can't play anymore.
It's so sad. Most popular music lyricists don't have much to say, if anything at all. I remember growing up some critics would hit on Simon LeBon for his oblique lyrics (and even the other Durans don't understand them!) but I'll take that any day over the banality and utter stupidity of most of today's garbage that passes for popular music.
