Fashion model and "talent" Rola is making her Hollywood debut in "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" (the series is known as "Biohazard" in Japan).
Rola will co-star with Milla Jovovich in the seventh film in the series, which will be released in Japan on Dec 23, earlier than its U.S. release.
Photos from the film with scenes featuring Rola were released in Japan on Friday by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Rola plays a character named Cobalt whom she describes as a "cool female fighting soldier." Rola went to South Africa where several scenes were filmed. She said her Japanese fans will be surprised to see her in an action movie, fighting zombies with weapons. Rola said she took English and acting lessons for the part.
In the movie, which picks up where "Resident Evil: Retribution" left off, Cobalt and her boyfriend (played by William Levy) team up with Alice (Jovovich) and others in humanity's final stand against the undead hordes.

I think Rola is stunning, but her voice drives me crazy. Good luck Rola.

She must have been awful because I haven't seen a single trailer where they use a line from her.
Judging by her cameos in Gaki no Tsukai, it's a good thing I haven't.

i thought she was an ex-tarento?
i hope she's now free from extortion by the japanese tarento industry, and wish her good luck

This series is practically a comedy anyway, having Rola just confirms things.
oldman_13
Never heard of her.

Many of the 'famous' tarento get bit roles, when they need Asian filler on shows that might be partially financed from Japan. Matsuda Seiko in Armageddon. Keiko Kitagawa in Tokyo Drift. Takeshi. Only a few get more constant, english speaking roles, like Ken Watanabe, who has become the biggest star from Japan in Hollywood.
The only actress I can think of from Japan that actually gets roles, is Tao Okamoto, model turned actress. She was very good, speaking english, in the well done television production of Hannibal, and had roles in Wolverine and Batman vs. Superman. But, she does have some acting chops. I don't know if Rola does, but from where she came from, the tarento division of media marketed Japanese entertainment, I'd say she isn't going to be a constant in any market, except Japan's.

Who is she?
Strangerland
She's very popular in Japan. If you live here, you're living in a bubble if you don't know her. If you don't live here, then why would you even comment?

"Hai, ok!"

Read the article. It says who she is in the first sentence.
gokai_wo_maneku
She is in the movie to attract a Japanese audience when the film is shown in Japan. It is the young guy audience they are trying to appeal to.
GaikokuJim
I can imagine her lines: " Eeeeeeeeeeeeeh" and " Sugooooooooooi"

I hope she tones down the squeaking.
She's a stunning-looking woman, but as soon as she opens her mouth, I have to hit mute to continue.
Strychnine
Oh PLEASE let this END!
On a good note. :)

Poor Lola (Rola). She's just a person trying to do something instead of working in a UNIQLO somewhere and get's savaged by posters here who are more talented and famous than her. She's not as smart as you, so let her be.

The is no doubt Rola was right at the front of the queue when nature was handing out ravishing glamour and beauty. With a knockout complexion to match.Rola is the epitome elegance. However not all the cards nature deals come up trumps, certainly beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Anthropology suggests even Neanderthal female could produce a reasonable quality range of vocal sounds. Alas nature giveth and taketh away. Nature sure fit to bless Rola with the vocal range of Disney's Chip and Dale soaked in premium strength Sebor Absinthe....

It's called good business.
Her role is probably a throwaway role, not vital to the story and anyone could have done it.
But pay a little more to cast her and maybe it will help at the Japanese box office.
It's one reason why American movies are starting to cast well-known Chinese actors in their films, helps them get free marketing in China and helps to get more international attention.
Tamarama
That's weird, coz I just watched the trailer above and she speaks in that....

The open Yaaa Haaa........it almost comical.....All the best to her though

She's not as smart as you, so let her be. but it gives hope to those that are smart, how many celebrities in Japan and overseas for that matter that have normal or below average intelligence and make a fortune from their....ah ...talent!?!?
itsonlyrocknroll
Hum wtfjapan, that is a fair point to make, Rola works hard and is clearly enjoying herself. I cant say it's a laugh a minute in my chosen profession or nearly as glamorous.

@strangerland
OK I found out she's some dimwit on the telly. So you reckon I live in a bubble because I didn't know who she is.... You're a jerk
Outrider
bobsap, I don't know who she is either. And now that I do its pretty clear I wasn't missing anything.

Readers, there is no need to insult Rola. It only makes you look petty.

Great one less movie to watch for me,thanks for the warning.
sensei258
Rola is smokin hot, even my daughter came and told me how well-endowed she is, and I was just in love with her face
Strangerland
As if you were going to watch it either way.

Resident Evil sequels are like the Twilight, Wrong Turn and Saw sequels for me. I don't like them exactly but for some reason keep watching them.

Rola may come off as an airhead and probably isn't that good of an actor, but there is no denying her heart. I have a friend to was in Kumamoto right after they had the earthquake, helping out at one of the shelters there. He was pleasantly surprised to see Rola make a surprise visit. It wasn't reported on the news at all, so few people know of it, but she was helping out and providing some needed boost to the evacuees there. She obviously didn't need to be there, but wanted to. It took awhile for people to realize it was her, since she was wearing a surgical mask, but once they found out, she happily obliged their requests to have her picture taken with them.
wtfjapan
look don't worry people shes probably in the movie as a sacrificial lamb as most characters are in the Resident Evil flicks. but good marketing by Sony in casting a well know J talento to get J fans to watch the movie! At least she can pronounciate English well and doesn't look like a nonspeaker stumbling on her lines. Well have to see if she can actually act or not!?
bass4funk
Whatever! All I have to say to all of that after hearing that news, it's time for Alice to rap things up and move along. The series has seem to finally reach rock bottom and the endpoint.
1glenn
Not for me.
FizzBit
What's "Resident Evil"?
Outrider
The series has been scraping the bottom of the barrel for some time. This is just a last ditch effort to get some more tickets sold in japan. Crass marketing.
wtfjapan
What's "Resident Evil"? english title for these movies, "Bio Hazard" in Japan
rocketpanda
Z-listed movie with z listed "Hollywood" actors. Surprised the series lasted this long. Apparently a bulk of the revenue comes from the European market. Well good luck to her, got to start somewhere.
Chop Chop
What is her family name? I check on google and found two or three Rola with Japanese family name. We moved out from Japan 20 - year ago. So we don't know who she was. It's interesting she was making movie in Hollywood. Good on her. I wish her success in Hollywood.
dcog9065
Good on her! She is such a babe it's ridiculous
Frederic Bastiat
As long as she doesn't have a speaking role. Painful to watch while she speaks.
sensei258
Having said that, I really hope this is the "final chapter" of the Resident Evil series, it's been beat to death and Alice needs to move on
Wakarimasen
Coz that's how she Rola's - last in the series so her Hollywood career likely to be short lived. Plus not sure Resident Evil is really "acting"
