Model and "talent" Rola, 23, is this year's winner of publisher Kodansha's “Best Character Award.” Part of the Kodansha Advertising Awards, it goes to the celebrity voted most popular by readers during the year and who has contributed to the progress of magazine advertising.

Rola said that she never thought she would win such an award, but added that as a model, she loves reading magazines.

The award is Rola's fourth of the "awards season." She has already won the Best of Beauty, Best Jeanist and Best Dressed Eyes awards.

And people said that her father's arrest earlier this year would be the end of her career.

She makes me want punch my TV.

How many did she win this year? Jeanist? etc.. She is on a Rola!

Those with beauty and brain deserved the award better than her.. I think she kind of fit into the dream image of many advertising and people out there love the mixed up and foreign look......

How about one for Best Airhead??? Then I'll sit good with her winning something.

No most annoying award?

I nominate her for the best ersatz caucasian award.

I was just awarded the "Most like Mr. Mom award" and the " Most over-used Hawaiian shirt award". I also recently won the "Gaijin most un-sat-by on the train" award. Don't get me wrong, I love "Laura", but enough of the pointless awards already.

She will be forgotten by next year

She is asinine.

Some may criticize, but she is laughing all the way to the bank.

@ gokai - so was her dad, apparently...

No brains, no beauty, no talent, no award. Reach for the bucket.

Rola is famous because she acts like her normal ditsy self on TV while the rest of the TV stars put on a front. Also she is lucky to be a part of the half-Japanese/half-anything boom that is going on in Japan entertainment now.

You still must have jet-fumes lingering around you if you think that this "half-Japanese/half- anything boom" is just going on now.

Just another part of the cycle, and it's "her" turn right now.

To be honest, while I am no fan of hers, she seems to be one of the only ones with a clue. They had her on a survival show a few months back and while she played the fool with bringing everything AND the kitchen sink, she knew how to gut fish, cook and manage a shelter. None of the Japanese "talento" came anywhere near her. She IS laughing all the way to the bank but where is the dignity? I guess for some money and fame is more important but I can't understand wanting to make a donkey out of yourself in front of millions for a short live career.

agreed with tmarie. What's the point of making yourself look a fool for some temporary fame. She could be so much more.
