Perv!

He's acting like the victim that he isn't. He's a fugitive. All he needed to do was not flee the country, and get through the court case.

If there were extenuating circumstances about his having sex with a drunk and drugged up 13-year-old (and he would like you to think of Sharon Tate here of course - the 2 events 6? years apart) they would have come out during the '78 trial.

This is a sad life of Polanski. His family returned to Poland shortly before the outbreak of the second world war and were forced into the ghetto with thousands of other Jewish families. The young Polanski escaped from the ghetto during WWII, but his parents were shipped to concentration camps, and his mother was murdered in Auschwitz.

Few years ago, lawyers for Polanski have been seeking through the U.S. courts to have the rape charges against him dropped, after new evidence emerged in a documentary that, they argued, showed he was a victim of "judicial misconduct" at his original trial. The former L.A. district attorney admitted discussing the case with the trial judge while it was ongoing. Los Angeles judge agreed that "substantial misconduct" had taken place during the original court proceedings, but said he could not drop the charges so long as Polanski remained a fugitive.

He can deflect and deny, but he ran from justice to avoid paying for raping a minor. None of his life events or artistic work changes that.

A 44 year old guy with a 13 year old......absolutely unforgivable and unbelievable European nations would not allow his arrest. This is one of the worst crimes someone can commit. A rape of a minor!

I remember that Geimer's mother used her not so innocent daughter's diary to extort money from Polanski. The Los Angeles Times published parts of it when Polanski was in custody. She asserted she had lost her virginity at 11 to an 18 year old college "boyfriend;" And, that it was a drunk member of Hollywood royalty that caused Samantha to end up in Roman's arms.

So I'm not cool with the anti-Polanski hate. There's more to the story.

You know, I love his movies. However, drugging, then raping a girl (regardless her reputation) is unforgivable. Oh, it's so hard to be a misunderstood artist. You ran away after you admitted the crime. Who cares how you confessed, if there was a witch hunt ... you raped a 13 year old girl. Monster.

Sparky, is it really your intention to defend someone who drugged and raped a 13 year old? There is no way to explain it away, there are no circumstances that can make it any less of a crime. And for the past 35 years, he has been sheltered by supposedly civilized nations who, incredibly, don't seem to have a problem with harboring someone who has raped a child.

Do you really mean to defend him?

Sparky: Maybe you can explain why you know about roman's behavior because it seems that people criticizing Roman haven't got slightest experience of pervert experience.

Good director. Terrible human being.

According to his indictment, Polanski offered 13-year old Samantha Gailey champagne and a qualude while he photographed her. He then raped her vaginally, anally and orally while she repeatedly asked him to stop.

After Polanski agreed to a plea bargain to a lessor charge, he then fled the US, thus avoiding paying for his crime. There is no statue of limitations on being a fugitive, so legally, barring a pardon by the state of California, he is still criminally liable.

Seeing how he has never paid for his crime, he has not made amends, and cannot be forgiven by society for his crime.

In short, good director; terrible human being. I have NO sympathy for him or his "plight." Had he served his time, I'd still think he is trash and would never support him until he made a great film about how terrible rape is.

Rosemary’s Baby is one of my favorite films, but that doesn't make Polanski any less of a rapist.

According to his indictment, Polanski offered 13-year old Samantha Gailey champagne and a qualude while he photographed her. He then raped her vaginally, anally and orally while she repeatedly asked him to stop.

Bears repeating, just in case anyone is inclined to lose perspective.

Troubled celeb genius or not, child rape is child rape.

He had plea bargain and he fled. Usually criminals accept plea bargain. So, media and legal world suspected that he might have something else he would be prosecuted. Even Nafia murders in Las Vegas took Plea Bargain and after released, lived happily ever after in Florida.
