Sanma to appear in TV commercial for Georgia coffee

Comedian Sanma Akashiya, 53, will appear in a new TV commercial for Coca Cola's coffee “Georgia” from Jan 5. In the commercial, Sanma will cheer up businessmen who are exhausted from working.

“The economic situation is not good. But I hope the new TV commercial will make people realize that ordinary days when nothing special happens are the best,” said Sanma after shooting the ad at a studio. “I will cheer up hard-working fathers.”

The new commercial features the song “Smiling Samma,” sung by the group Begin, which they created specially for Sanma on his request during a variety program this summer.

Another celebrity endorses another product that they most likely never use. The wheel of life goes on in Japan -- recession or not.

I'm with you on this one herefornow. I hate commercials that use celebrities that you just know will never use the product they advertise.

I dunno, he might drink the coffee. Can't be that bad. Doubt he'll ever buy a man bra. But he's not endorsing those.

Do you wonder if Joe Namath ever did wear panty hose?

Besides, somebody has to cheer up the hard working fathers. Or at least try!

I think it is sweet that he wants to cheer up Japanese working fathers. I guess the coffee is not pitching itself to hardworking mothers, though.

I would prefer some of his cash.
