Woman of the Year for her contributions to the plight of jewelry or Woman of the Year for what she's done for other women or Woman of the Year because hey, her name sells?

Woman of the Year because nobody else wanted to be bothered with another meaningless award.

For doing WHAT? She has no talent!

You have to love the 'qualifications' Japan has for the multitude of stupid awards they give. In the US or other developed nations women are busy fighting the 'war on women' to keep what little equality has been gained -- but this young woman is... an actress!

Another meaningless popularity contest.

Jewellers in Japan is promoting jewel sales in Japan. It is not created by this young girl. Meaningless or not, Japanese jewelers have to compete against foreign jewelers

Did she create Japan's 16% child poverty rate?

Finally!

Satomi has been patient and humble after being overlooked for so long by the judges.

This long-standing and honored award, steeped in history and great women, didn't need to wait a full year to crown its champion.

She is certainly very pretty. And that is the only reason for this little vignette after all, isn't it.
