It's interesting to see that this was done likely through the proper licensing channels. NBC is really hawkish and limiting content overseas, and we can't even stream SNL in Japan through the NBC website.

Every now and then they hit one some delicate spots for China. I would expect they have an assigned gov't censor that would demand edits and cuts. For example the sketch involving "peasant factory laborers" who make iPhones. "Oh you mad it take you to JC Penny instead of Macy. We just lucky we don't need working maps because we sleep where we work." Yeah, that would go over well in China.

Chinese do not get a cue in savvy political and social jokes of America. You must live here to appreciate them. Do not feel bad as some Americans still do not get them either.

"Sohu Video announced Thursday that it will exclusively put the show that regularly mocks the U.S. government, popular culture and others on its website....But Sohu CEO Charles Zhang said he didn’t expect the show to be controversial in China."
Of course it's not going to be controversial in China, it's not going to mock the Chinese government, just the U.S. government, lol. China needs their own SNL mocking the Chinese government, and there's a lot of mocking that needs to be done there, lol.
