It is an unfortunate reality that this may be the death knell of the movie theater industry. This Pandemic will not end in a year but many years from now. No amount of aid can tide such an industry indefinitely at the expense of so many other citizen's values. We are talking about hundreds of billions (USA Currency) dollars over the time that the Pandemic is active.

Maybe in it's current form, but am sure the industry will work around it.

the release of big movies like "Black Widow" and "Top Gun: Maverick"

Yet another bastardized Marvel Comics rip-off, and an unnecessary 'too little, too late' sequel to a movie that came out 34 years ago which is LONGER than most military careers.

The biggest problem facing the cinema industry has been going on for several years - it's tired. The well of Hollywood ideas has run dry, drier than the Mohave desert. There's a complete lack of ORIGINALITY going on.

Say the word, Hollywood hosers. ORIGINALITY. Say it again. Repeat after me.

ORIGINALITY

O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L-I-T-Y

ORIGINALITY!

This may be an opportune time to reset Hollywood and come down from 20-30 million salaries for some actors. Smaller budgets and cheaper tickets with a new lease of life for Drive in theaters where you stay in the car and see a double header. Things may look and work differently in the future but the industry will adapt and survive and eventually thrive again.

Many of those Hollywood actors and actresses makes millions in one movie. They sure have some spare cash in their banks. Maybe instead of asking the government those in the movie industry should find some ways to help themselves. Government money should go to other industries that needs more urgent help.

Yes, and these stars can take their money and put it to use to teach these younger actor wannabes how to ACT and not just play themselves.

When George Lucas became a zillionaire after the first STAR WARS he started Skywalker Ranch which has Lucasfilm studios where good movies were made on the cheap, and Skywalker Studios where musicians like the Greatful Dead recorded. And he did it all himself w/o government help.

Besides, Cameron is the one who made that rotten cliche-ridden junkheap 'Avatar'. He needs to come up with better work. And 'Top Gun: Maverick', oh pleez. SMH

movie theater owners this week in an appeal for financial help, saying they feared for the future of the industry.

This is not about the quality of movies, the quality of acting or the salaries that some actors can command.

This is about many people gathering in a confined space.

69% of small and mid-sized movie theater companies will be forced to file for bankruptcy or close permanently unless help is forthcoming.

No audience means no profit. This is not exclusive to the movie theatre industry, but a chilling indication of how fast things can change.
