I'll be the first one to say it- I thought the second movie was gonna be called "Hobbit 2 Electric Boogaloo!"

Rip off. Cashing in on success of LOTR.
what is this? perfect summer tentpole?? sounds vaguely suggestive

Cashing in on your own success is okay. Peter Jackson did the LOTR movies.
Lowly
But nessie, 3 hobbit movies for a short well-written perfect little fable? And supposedly full of things that have nothing to do with the original story.
Why oh why do they have to make three??

The Hobbit could be told in a 3hr movie.
Read ALL LOTR Books as a kid when I had the Flu and not happy with the Trilogy too much left out , too much emphasis on some things and too little on others(Moria, etc).
I think the sheeple will pay to see all 3 Movies see how they lap up Twilight and similar.

I am very sad to see this terrible failure of a series of films that destroy what is a very fine series of books with one of the worst film treatments ever. I have studied such literature all my life and was shocked and saddened to see Cameron turn a fine epic tale, one of the classics of our time into a sad dark Goth biker parody. Now even the Hobbit which was intended by its author JRR Tolkein as a children's tale will be attacked and Hollywooded. JRR will be turning over in his grave.
