Ho-hum ... this is "Headline" news??

How does one make 46 albums and numerous hits??! "Most" of the biggest musicians rarely go over 25 and I am talking about the old timers (maybe if you are Bob Dylan) How long has she been doing music?

Seiko-chan has been around at least thirty years, was a GIGANTIC star in the early 1980s. She has quite the history in the Japanese "geinokai" !
Cos
As indicated : about 50 years. At least.

Nothing much has changed after 20 years here. Seiko Matsuda is still making music, and there's still great English like "very very". Takes me back to when I first came here and people would say that something is "bery"... Maybe she should have called it beriberi.

Well, good for her! I remember back years ago she was trying to make it in the states, but she flopped and failed miserably.
@Cos
Even after 50 years, her music hasn't changed at all! (Which is not a good thing)

Hey, that was already a big shock when she changed of teeth. She isn't exactly Beethoven. She was not going to invent something fresh every 5 years. She's wise to do what it takes to keep the same old fans. It's like a subscription to kabuki or opera. The same persons go to one concert and buy 2 albums every year, rain or shine, new or old songs. They want it exactly as it was back thenin 80, so they can feel young again...

The very fact that this album release, even more than thirty years after her original debut, has elicited such comments, regardless of the reasons, says something for her "STAR POWER". Let alone longevity! Look ! She has got fifteen responses from us! (^.^) !

er... no, it isn't. It's a small article in the entertainment section of Japan Today. Are you lost?

Her face looks taught and like plastic. I hope it is just a bad photo or poor Photoshop skills.
Otherwise, good for her. She is well liked by many and has a fair voice.

@tokyo
Nah, she just gets tense in front of the cameras. She's only had thirty-five years' experience ;)

Too long.

Hi Bogi ... I picked this story up from the "Headline" bracket. Later after sending the message and scrolling down I also saw it in the entertainment bracket. So it was listed twice, at that time. The "Headline" bit it the bracket I was referring to ...
J-Boh
I reckon it's bona fide headline Japanese entertainment news.
Bogi
Hi edojin. When you said headline news, I assumed you meant a big story, which is what that expression usually means. On JT, I think almost all new articles get a link in the "Headline News" section on the front page.

Readers, the Headline News section automatically selects the top story in each section. Think of it as being like an index.

Rob Reiner needs to do a mocumentary about J-Pop.
46th album not counting compilations? Then again, I guess I've done karaoke about that number of times.
wtfjapan
well she was a bit of a nymphomaniac in here day, so the cover shot is probably justified!

Berry Berry what?

You don't like Seiko Matsuda? Well, you can always hear again AKB48.

She's like a Japanese Madonna....she just never gives up trying to stay young.....but not doing a very good job.
