Seiko Matsuda to star with daughter in ad for 'Mamma Mia!' movie

Singer-actress Seiko Matsuda, 46, and her daughter Sayaka Kanda, 22, will star in an upcoming TV commercial for “Mamma Mia!” – a movie directed by Phyllida Lloyd and starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.

It is the first time Matsuda has worked with her daughter since they appeared together in “Lion’s Mansion” five years ago. "Mamma Mia!" is a story about the bond between mother and daughter, and Matsuda said working on the commercial made her remember the time when Sayaka was born.

The TV ad will air from Saturday. "Mamma Mia!" opens on Jan 30.

First of all why, and then again, why???

Why not? Sayaka's a real cutie-pie, and her mom is aging very well indeed.

I saw the trailer for this movie, and I couldn't barely sit through the two minutes of preview. there's no way I'd see this movie.

I can't even bare looking at the movie poster for this one.

but hey, whatever floats your boat. That is a pretty hot mom....

I love how the fact that a movie trailer just isn't enough in Japan; you must have some random tarento endorsing it before anyone will go.

This movie made me feel bad and sad. This movie was released in August 2008. Why why why does it take so long to come here. The DVD has already been released in Europe and America. Obiviously they are trying to make this movie into a cash cow in Japan. This movie looks much worse than " the earth stood still " movie. Hopefully this movie won't make it past Valentine's Day.

Odd that a real mother and daughter are used in the promotion of a movie where the father is unknown.

Ah...finally some news on Seiko, my favourite J-pop artist, too bad they can't find a replacement.

Memyself - that's a good point. This film has been available on DVD since November last year. It's a guaranteed crowd-pleaser here, big name stars, pretty cutesy-poo and full of Abba songs, nothing anyone needs to think about.

So why's it taken so long to get here? And why do we still have to pay 1800 yen to watch an old film?

My missus got this film out so we could "watch it together". It made my eyes bleed it was so dire. Oh, and James Bond really, REALLY shouldn't try to sing. Although I'm yet to meet a lass who doesn't love it with an almost religious passion. Maybe it's like WWII movies for girls.

If Seiko wasn't holding her hand, Sayaka wouldn't have any kind of "career" to talk about.

Cute girl and cute mother. I loved the first time I saw Seiko singing "right combination" with whatever boy band singer that was. I was totally in lust. Ever since no matter the controversy I supported Seiko in whatever she did. Press is press and bad press is just yellow journalism. Seiko and her daughter rock and I know nothing about their music these days. I just think they are good representatives. I'd love to meet either or both of them and congratulate them ... despite me liking this movie or not.
