Color me sceptic in the value of Gomez contributions, but I guess if there is need to honor someone people will choose to do it with someone famous that will make mass media outlets report it and give free publicity. Probably this article would not be here if the honored was someone not famous.

OK I have a silly question:

Why do people that often already know they have mental issues decide to put themselves in the spotlight knowing full well from the experiences that have been well publicised by other that their lives will be public, full of demanding fans and paparazzi?

This constant "I wasn't aware, it was this bad" " why can't I have privacy?" The " I have the right to privacy......".

Sorry but if you are older than 3 you know the results of becoming famous, others have over and over pointed them out based on their lives in in spotlight.

If you have mental issues the last thing you need to be is a celebrity!

Her mental problems became an issue after she became an actress. She has influence on younger people and can bring the problems to the forefront. There are always millions of less famous people behind the scenes.

She also had a kidney transplant. Donated by a close friend but then their relationship faulted, at least to media reports.

So far, the fund has distributed $1.7 million to nearly a dozen and a half mental health organizations.

That is money they never had.
