"new diversity standards for future Oscar contenders to win a best picture Academy Award"
Does this mean that an all-black or all-Hispanic casted movie can't win Best Picture?

As long as they meet the minimum of minorities in the staff

Just goes to show what a pathetic “movement” it was to begin with

Women have more opportunities in life nowadays more than ever before. Come on now....

Sometimes that is true as well, but also have a lot more opportunities and are put into positions that were always assigned to men, we still have a way to go, but to imply in the (west at least) women are victims of constant gender discrimination is just pure nonsense.

@deadbeatles, it's still a pathetic requirement. The Academy Awards are supposed to pick the best film, clearly they're no longer interested in that, which is why their ratings plummeted. A movie set in feudal Japan, or about the Zulu, or the Mexican Revolution, or King Henry VIII would be disqualified because they're not "diverse" enough.

As long as they meet the minimum of minorities in the staff, they still qualify
Japanese are minorities in America; Zulus are minorities in America; Mexicans are minorities in America - those films would actually crush the minimum
