Yup! Gotta love Shania!

All she's going for her is her pretty sexy looks. Her music is awful watered down pop dross for the Yuppies. It ain't country, it's junk. As for Canada their best musical export by far is RUSH who I have seen five times. I'm a New World Man.

'Twain', take away the 'WIN' and what letters are left? Her sexiness is what made that waful CD sell 10 million copies. It's musical yuck.

CORRECTION

A terrible indictment of Canadian music if that is the best they can do. Meandering, pretentious drivel. Give me Shania over that.

Not on the same planet as Neil Young or Joni Mitchell ( overrated in my opinion ).

Anyway, she can write, sing and play. Good look to her. Hope she keeps on winding up the music snobs.

Can't believe there's something we agree on. There ya go!

She's not really even a country musician, she just twangs.

Agreed.

Oh, disclaimer: Jimizo, this article is not “winding me up”.

You love to tell us things like what is or isn’t art or good music.

What music is good?

Never heard of her and never knowingly heard any of her music ;-)

Each to their own and all that but Rush are absolute bobbins.

For the longest time critics here in America said RUSH was rubbish too and NO woman I ever dated yet liked them. In fact I never met any female RUSH fans until 2004 and they were lesbians. But by the time RUSH broke up in 2018 they had plenty of female fans, fans of all races and colors and musical tastes, and finally the critical respect they deserved. They are deservedly in the R'n'R HOF now.

As for Shania, her pretty looks and sexiness are all she's got - she ain't 'country', she's POP and not very good pop at that. You can pin up her CD booklet pics on your office space divider wall and throw the CD away because it is bobbins/trash/gar-BAHj/rubbish/junk.

Ich nichten lichten? You're harder to impress than she is.

I do like that hit song she sang, You're still the one, but she looked ridiculous in that leopard dress in the video for that man-hating song.

'You're still the one' is a bad ripoff of a good song by that name by Orleans, and it has been embarrassingly used at so many wedding parties where both mates get so sobby-sobby-sobby. And she sure looks good in that video with those tight leather pants on, but the song stinks. Video Killed the Radio Star for sure but good sexy looks ain't enough for me. If she don't sound good, I'm gone.

And there are plenty of good women music stars out there - good sounding as well as good looking. But a sexy woman with vapid awful music doesn't cut the mustard. Musically, either you got it or you don't.

I listened to a few songs but shiny country pop with cheesy lyrics doesn't really appeal. Maybe it sounded fresher when it was released, and it would certainly sound better in the suburban midwest or driving across Wyoming in the sunshine.

Still, she overcame what sounds like a terrible childhood, wrote her own songs and sold 10m copies of this album, which is a great achievement. Good luck to her. I found the global superstar tag a touch excessive, though.

I'd take the Spice Girls over Shania Twain any day of the week. Say You'll Be There is a great pop song.

Indeed It used to be fashionable to slag RUSH off, maybe it still is in some quarters. The songs are not all to my taste but the musicianship is fantastic, actually often astounding, and they certainly had a sound and style all of their own.

Say You'll Be There is a great pop song.

So was Wannabe. Ticks all the boxes. Fun, catchy and quirky.

When are people going to realise that songs like this aren’t written to showcase great musicianship, creativity or ‘depth‘? It isn’t easy to write a standout pop song given how many there are.

Shania Twain writes catchy songs. Not easy by any means. I can play guitar to a point and a bit of piano. I wish I could write catchy songs that sell by the millions. It’s a real gift.
