Shokotan thrilled to provide voice for Disney feature

Singer Shoko Nakagawa, 25, popularly known as “Shokotan,” appeared at the Japan premiere for Disney's 50th animated feature, “Tangled” -- titled "Tou no ue no Rapunzel” for Japan.

Nakagawa provides the voice for main character Rapunzel. “I feel just like the real thing,” she said, wearing a dress in the image of her character. “This is really my crowning achievement in life,” she proclaimed.

In the spirit of the film's story, Shokotan was asked what her wish was in life. “To meet someone new,” she responded. “To fall in love, and become a stronger person.”

The film follows the familiar story of Rapunzel, trapped for the first 18 years of her life at the top of a tower, although the Disney cut takes liberties with the original tale. Also at the premiere were members of SKE48, the up-and-coming girl band from Nagoya, actress Maki Tamaru, fashion model Ayame Goriki, and others.

Real-human movie may be more thrilling and appealing.

In the spirit of the film’s story, Shokotan was asked what her wish was in life. “To meet someone new,” she responded. “To fall in love, and become a stronger person.”

I may offer Shokotan a role of Rapunzel, I will be both a film director and actor who travels with her to discover the unknown world outside the tower. I am dreaming now.

I agree with asianTourist, a movie with real actors would be great! Shokotan's hair is certainly long enough for her to play the role of Rapunzel! Now, lessee, who could we get to play Prince Charming and the evil old woman who keeps Rapunzel trapped in the tower and vexes Prince Charming... got it! Johnny Depp and Glenn Close! Perfect! Ha ha!

Her hair is much prettier than mine, but my legs are better. Her voice is nice and will be good for this part.

ooh I'm new, maybe she can fall in love with me, and maybe if part of her wanting to be a stronger person is to have better/stronger legs .. I think I could help her with that too, in a round about way ...

Rapunzel is a Brothers Grimm story. When I was a kid I listened to a record of a bunch of Grimm Brothers stories including Rapunzel, and it was pretty grim, especially the part when Rapunzel foolishly let the witch know about the prince who came to see her at night, and the witch cut off her hair and sent her off into the forest to fend for herself, but kept her hair, and then when the prince showed up saying, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!" she let it down and he climbed up and then, to his horror, saw the witch, who told him he'd never see Rapunzel again, and then, in despair, he jumped from the tower and blinded himself on the briar below, lol...

Agree the original stories the Brother Grimm collected tend to be very dark. FYI, the didn't write them but only collected existing folk-tales that had no written record.

Said that many of the tales, etc we today consider today children tales were often banned books or NOT written/designed for kids. ex: Gullivers travels, Watership down, Mickey mouse, etc.

Watched the trailers of the movie on Tv and the cuteness of Rapunzel made me puke.

“This is really my crowning achievement in life,” she proclaimed.

She honestly expressed her true emotion.

“Tangled” is a good movie educating young kids for self-development and self-confidence in a fast-changing society with the presence of internet, mobile telecommunication and other dangerous temptation. American parents seem to like to buy this DVD for their kids watching at home.

"Untangled" is my new story re-edited from this story for real-human movie, any investor wants to join me. The shooting plot is Japan, China, and Vietnam. It will start from March, 2011 to March, 2012 for preparation and the real shooting follows then. A casting audition will be held after the completion of the preparation stage. Contact me.
