Singer Andrea Bocelli: 'Absurd' to shun opera legend Domingo

I'd find it hard to maintain that attitude if someone I really admired was outed as, say, a vicious racist or a genuine fascist or a serial killer.

I wish more young people thought this way. But so many now idolize dictators, fascists, and communists.

Not even unproven allegations of murder, rape or kidnapping. But just unproven allegations of sexual harassment and this is the treatment he gets. This is what is going to kill the Metoo movement and that death cannot come soon enough. This garbage is actually watering down the seriousness of real female victims of proven more serious crimes. Metoo is shooting all women in the foot.

Not sure his point is that an artist's work should be considered separately from their morality.  Rather it is that we should maintain the principle of "innocent until proven guilty".  So many examples (e.g. Operation Yewtree) where the presumption of guilt and excess adverse publicity had a really awful impact on accused peoples' lives.

Tell that to Spacey. Ousted on ALLEGATIONS of sexual misconduct.

Bocelli expresses two concepts:

1) presumption of innocence and

2) separation between private life and public life.

and I agree on both his statements.

I appreciate Mr. Bocelli emphatically speaking out for Placido Domingo. Domingo is first and foremost a great human being.
