Singer BoA struggles with English and jet lag during American debut

Singer BoA, 22, celebrated the nationwide release of her American debut album, "Best & USA" (titled "BoA" in the U.S.), with a special concert on Monday night at Shin-kiba's Studio Coast in Tokyo's Edogawa Ward.

The album, which was released in both Japan and America on March 18, hit 127 on the Billboard Chart stateside, but the young singer stated she wasn't interested in the numbers, commenting, "More than that, it's really hard speaking English on the radio and at events in the U.S. Also, every two weeks, I'm going back and forth between here and there, and the jet lag really wears me out."

In all, the album features nine songs, including the English track, "Eat You Up."

I've been a BoA fan since 2003 and wish her the best in her US adventure, but I'm not highly hopeful.

Wow, still only 22! I remember watching her on TV back during the 2002 world cup days. I thought she was at least 18 back then.

Let's just hope a native/fluent speaker wrote the English lyrics. Otherwise, the album will make her laughing stock.

"the jet lag really wears me out"

I hear you.

I hope she doesn't combine any "cold medicine" with her jet lag, that can really screw you up.

delightful! all the best to her! I'm sure she'll be a huge success! JT you should show your support more and have a BoA news item everyday this month, come on!

I've been a fan of hers since her debut, but even I have to admit that she's doing poorly here. She's barely done any promotion, her songs aren't on the radio (two stations don't count), and her album, which was released March 17th, isn't even in stores.

don't think the english will be a problem....more likely the crap music.

Although crap music is not necessarily a hindrance to doing well in the US pop market....

Please encourage young children in Japan to learn english.

Is it me or does her face look completely different every few years? Is she imitating Michael Jackson?

in texas they got this stuff called drank, it has melatonin, rose hips and it knocks you out, but when you wake up, your jetlag is gone, something in it resets your bio clock. . .

best way to cure jet lag is when you arrive at your destination take off your shoes and socks and walk around on the rug, making fists with your toes

I wondered the same as Ninjazilla, as her face looks totally resculptured. Not in a bad way, mind you...

I think it is called maturing. She started at 13 and now she is 22. Maturing well too. Will she be on the bento wish list too?
