Singer Joni Mitchell hospitalized in Los Angeles

More famous Canadians (or born in Canada) out there than you think. Some to be proud of (though of course not like you did anything to help them get there, or share in the fame, or anything), some to be embarrassed about (ex. Bieber, Lavigne, Cruz). Given that most attain their popularity in the US, though, it's sometimes not as openly known they come from Canada. Some, like Jim Carrey, advertise it.

Joni is an extreme talent, and at 71 while I doubt her health will be much improved as time marches on, I hope she recovers and stays with us for a while yet.

Also proud to acknowledge her talent as a fellow Canuk.

I was born many years after The Band, but you just KNOW genius when you hear it. Amazing.

That Morgellon's disease sounds nasty, though not something you'd be hospitalized for. I too hope she's okay!!
